It was quite nice to see Paul debunking rumours again over on GB, and rebuking DWO for firing up fans... again.

It was quite nice to see Paul debunking rumours again over on GB, and rebuking DWO for firing up fans... again. It is a pity that Paul has to take time out of his schedule to do that. When these rumors or hoaxes start, I'm sure he gets flooded with e-mails or other things that can possibly become annoying to the point of where it could interfere with everything else. Can you possibly imagine him or a BBC representative trying to negotiate a return of missing material and something like this comes up? If the BBC have something, let them announce it at a time so it won't cause problems for current investigations. When the fans got fired up for The Web of Fear in 2007, DWO blamed the fans for getting excited and angry when nothing was found! What was up with that?

It's here, short and sweet: gallifreybase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=154122&page=45And then he comes back later to say: I should just say that I rarely post anything on GB but when I do it's usually to debunk rumours. It is getting quite boring this year, as I predicted back in 2011. To be fair to DWO, they only posted in this thread in response to others posting their tweets. However, my personal view is that there is no point in reporting that big news is about to be announced unless you can actually report that news. It's not news until it's announced and building up peoples expectations whilst at the same time saying you can't say anything is, in my view, irresponsible. Others may not agree, but I'm not going to get into a debate about it. Whatever this imminent announcement is (and I know of two big news stories that the BBC could announce which aren't related to the New series) I can assure you that the BBC isn't going to announce a missing episode recovery tomorrow, Tuesday or any other day this week, unless of course one gets returned to them in the next few hours. That is extremely unlikely as it's the Easter holiday and sensible people are enjoying the Easter break, and not spending their time tweeting or posting on forums like this... unlike us. Except I'm not. I'm off to continue enjoying what's left of my Easter holiday. Happy Easter, Paul

It is remarkable on there how so many people are trying to find loopholes and excuses for why Paul might be lying... quite entertaining. I couldn't help but poke some fun! ;D

I think it may have been DWO's idea of a joke. Look at the date... What kind of "special announcement" can they possibly throw at us that just so happens to be announced for April Fool's Day?
Perhaps that 4 episodes of Doctor Who HAVE been returned, but was just another copy of "An Unearthly Child"? (Mind you, that WAS a great prank back in 1992)

I'm interest in the "two big news stories that the BBC could announce which aren't related to the New series."

(Mind you, that WAS a great prank back in 1992) Their jokes just keep getting better and better. We have their Web of Fear report in 2007 that they stood by until the bitter end. They give us lip service instead of a missing episode hunt after that, and now they alert us to big news they can't inform us about.

I'm eager to find Hitchcocks film The Mountain Eagle, which has been missing since the 1920s, almost a century ago.
I'm not the biggest Hitchcock fan but I'd still love to find it.

It was quite nice to see Paul debunking rumours again over on GB, and rebuking DWO for firing up fans... again. Indeed, but there's one regular in that GB thread who never lets the truth get in the way of a good rumour, and whips things up far too much. Fortunately he is not in this forum. DWO need to abandon comments like 'there's a big piece of classic-related series news coming'. It really does no good whatsoever.

It is remarkable on there how so many people are trying to find loopholes and excuses for why Paul might be lying... This despite the fact that he actually said on this very forum 'I never lie'.
