I've mentioned this a couple of times but I thought I would start a new thread to hopefully get a full answer to this. Is it known exactly which stories used the actual footage of the cliff-hangers from the previous episode?
I would love to have a full list of clips of reprises and cliffhangers that contain footage from the missing episodes. I know about The Space Museum Ep 1 having footage from The Crusade and I know about The Daleks Ep 2 having footage from the untransmitted first episode of the story. If anyone else knows any more cases it would be really helpful. Thanks.

I believe "Air Lock" features the cliffhanger footage from the previous episode

Simeon, I've often wondered how many of these scenes are replays of otherwise entirely-missing episodes.I'm guessing that the answers online somewhere.

Thanks R. Williams, I'll look into that. I've looked online quite a bit but I can't find anything past the two mentioned above. I'm sure someone knows so I thought it would be best just to ask rather than trawling through the episodes hoping to match off air audio with that of existing episodes.

Well, the episodes we have to check would be:
The Daleks 2 (which is known) The Keys of Marinus 1 (known to not have a reprise) The Reign of Terror 6 The Crusade 3 The Space Museum 1 (which is known) Galaxy 4 3 The Daleks Master Plan 2 The Daleks Master Plan 5 The Daleks Master Plan 10 The Ark 1 (from memory doesn't have a reprise) The Celestial Toymaker 4 The War Machines 1 The Tenth Planet 1 The Underwater Menace 2 The Moonbase 2 The Moonbase 4 The Faceless Ones 1 (from memory doesn't have a reprise) The Faceless Ones 3 The Evil of the Daleks 2 (from memory is the same as ep1 - the clip from The Wheel in Space 6 is identical + 3 additional frames) The Tomb of the Cyberman 1 (no reprise, but has continuous scene) The Abominable Snowmen 2 The Ice Warriors 1 The Ice Warriors 4 The Enemy of the World 3 The Web of Fear 1 The Wheel in Space 3 The Wheel in Space 6 The Invasion 2 The Invasion 5 The Space Pirates 2 The War Games 1 (from memory, no reprise)

I believe "Air Lock" features the cliffhanger footage from the previous episode The camera script for ep 2 has the episode ending with Vicki turning to camera and screaming "Look!". The script doesn't include a cut away to the Rill. From this we can conclude that the glimpse we get of the creature at the start of ep 3 is all new and not a splice-in of footage from ep 2.

The Abominable Snowmen 2 might be a strong contender; it's sourced from film and features the collapse of the cave, something they probably wouldn't want to film twice.

Tenth Planet 1 uses no material from the Smugglers, based on a viewing of the recon and the existing episode 1 of Tenth Planet.
Invasion 2 and 5, do use material from previous episodes. By this time, starting with Enemy of the World, the scenes are no longer shot in sequential order, but by location using different colored scripts, a practice which would continue until the series' cancellation in 1989.

Does Air Lock start with the 'Look!!'? As I recall the offair audio of 'Trap of Steel' after the 'look!' there is a dramatic musical boom. Comparing this to Air Lock would be very interesting. I'd be interested to know if it does include any footage from the previous episode.

The audios aren't the only thing to compare though. I'm doing some work on a somewhat basic reconstuction of The Moonbase, and I was originally intending to use the beginnings of episodes two and four for the the cliffhangers at the end of episodes one and three. But after comparing the telesnaps to the footage, it is obvious that the scenes were refilmed.

Which makes me thinks the camera scripts of Trap of Steel are not accurate when they don't list the shot of the Rill. If Air Lock opens with the 'Look' (dramatic boom) (close up of Rill) then this may well constitute missing footage from 'Trap' if it can be show to not be a newly-shot reprise by studying the audio.
