The DVD is coming out on Monday and having seen it at the BFI I can say it's truly stunning and I never even saw it in black and white! The amount of work put into this release is outstanding and without Stuart, Peter and Richard's unbelievable efforts it wouldn't have been possible. To say thank you whilst also helping charity, Peter set up this page a little while ago. Surely the small target of £500 can be reached: my.rednoseday.com/sponsor/MindInColour

Well, I'm watching the restored MoE 1 for the first time, and it's taken my breath away. Truly outstanding work. I could quibble, but not being a quibbler when heartiest congratulations are deserved, I won't. Thank you to the team, wonderful stuff!! I hope the chroma dot stuff is as good, but episode one deserves its own praise.

Well Ive been plodding through it also, catching a bit when I can fit it in and Im seriously impressed. Id been absolutely amazed at the differnce with Infernoand its special edition and found that amazing too. I wasnt always overly enthralled by all these special editions etc and saw it as a means of exploiting the fans but have to admit that so far, theyve been well worth it.With so little to work from with Mind of Evil, the results are really good.

I thought that the AMBASSADORS OF DEATH was good-not brilliant but hopefully there will be scope for improvement in the not too distant future.Yes I know it will require having to buy ANOTHER edition but it would be worth it,especially as this story was a no-hoper 10 years ago.Was the CLAWS OF AXOS SE worth it?I'm not so sure,I couldn't see any appreciable up-grade from the previous release.I think the problem with that is that the 1st episode is 625-line and re-masters so well ( it is stunning to look at with it's deep, clean black backgrounds ),the rest of the episodes still look poor in comparison.I was really disappointed after viewing the 1st episode thinking that the rest would look that good but they didn't.

I enjoyed Ambassadors but found, like Daemons, that the film sequences were not as good as the video. I suppose it's the film being telecined onto video and then telerecorded. I'm looking forward to seeing Mind.

I'm looking forward to seeing Mind. Yes, but I think many filmed scenes were recorded out of phase resulting in double imaging which degrades the picture quality. There are several like that in Mind as well.

The only area of potential restoration so far not achieved would be to unpick the film sequences / merged frames of t/r. When a way is found to make that happen, there will be an even greater improvement across the board!

I presume that's being investigated ?

Of course, if people start digging up playing fields and rubbish tips, they're going to need a process to recover a playable image from a small puddle of goo.

Mind of Evil and Ambassadors of Death are two special editions I would buy if they were able to improve upon the work they've done already. I've enjoyed the improved quality of the special editions and re-visitations, and the additional special features but I like the idea that once the lot are released that's it and I don;t have to keep re-buying them.

I presume that's being investigated ? I would guess that it's been explored along with all areas for potential restoration. Although I don't think they've found a workable way forward on this one as yet. To be able to eliminate that chracteristic motion blur on t/rs would be a real step forward!

Can anyone around here shed light on BabelColour's comment that work was halted on the colourisation at one point, because they believe they had located the actual colour prints somewhere? [In the end, the paperwork proved to (obviously) be incorrect.]

?!? (because that's all that would be left, if that) Haha. I'm sure you're right about that, Rob. Not sure what it has to do with unpicking frames in telerecordings though!
