Anybody know of any tv appearances by the Troggs performing Wild Thing in 1966 apart from the clip from the Swedish tv clip generally available.

Sorry if this has been covered in all those pages behind this (haven't had time to check). What's that colour promo film c. 1965 with the group dressed as 'B' Movie type Robots? Appears to be British. I wondered if that was the Tornadoes. The one filmed in a wood where they're wearing spacesuits and helmets? Thats a Scopitone filmed in France. Joe Meek was apparently on set making a nuisance of himself since he had his own ideas on how that should be filmed. Graham Bond the only clip I've seen is what looks like a colour 'video juke box' type film c. 1964. May be a clip from the feature 'Gonks go beat'? Laurence was the one who mentioned these type of features they had in machines at Holiday resorts. Yes, they appeared in "Gonks Go Beat" - a rather comical clip with Jack Bruce hamming it up in shades and bopping his head to the song. Colosseum... I wondered if there might be anything of them in the surviving BBC semi educational series 'ANATOMY OF POP'. I'm not sure actually. I don't know how much has survived of that show. Have seen the Soft Machine appearance on that, but not Colosseum. Another poster should be able to confirm whether it exists or not.

Wasn't that Tornadoes clip a cameo from a movie, John? I can't remember the title but I think it was.
I think something like three of five episodes of Anatomy Of Pop survive. I have only seen the first one with the softs and Marmalade so cannot say if Colosseum appeared. It is the sort of thing I could imagine would feature them. There is a colour film clip existing that no one has identified so far. It was used in the Jazz Britannia series though.
Wild Thing is another obvious one that I am surprised no one has mentioned up to now (I overlooked it too) but there does seem to be a lack of any clips. The only one that I know of from when it was a hit is the promo film shot on a train station.
Talk of Colosseum reminds me of another jazz rock group from the same time I haven't seen many clips of, Ian Carr's Nucleus. Jazz Britannia features a colour clip of them from the seventies where they seem to be demoing electronic effects. Does anyone know where it is from? Looks very much like an arts programme like Full House (have I got the name right? The seventies thing that Soft Machine appeared on introduced by Joe Melia) or an educational programme. Apart from this, does anyone know of more appearances surviving by the group in it's heyday?

Two classic records that everyone seems to know all over the world for which I cannot recall seeing any original TV footage: The Sandpipers - Guantanamera (1966) Jeff Beck - Hi Ho Silver Lining (1967)

Not that there's any trace of them to be found of course. That 27th April show features a band I've not seen any footage of - Warm Sounds who performed "Birds and Bees."

Here's a group I've NEVER seen footage of, Cornelius brothers and Sister Rose. And I've also never seen any footage of the ORIGINAL version of The Undisputed Truth (Brenda Evans, Billie Rae Calvin, Joe Harris) The "spaced out" later version of the group is around, but never seen footage of the original trio. And I HAVE seen production stills of the original trio, not sure what show it's from, but i suspect it's from Amercian show "Upbeat".

Oh, and I thought of ANOTHER act I've never seen video footage of, that I would LOVE to see... it's the Free Movement (I've Found Someone Of My Own). And on a side note, I've also never seen any other footage of the Hues Corporation other than that Top Pop clip where they are in the yellow costumes, is that the only existing footage of them as well?

A Colour promo clip shot in a monastery from the USA “Something Else” TV series (the series with John Byner presenting) whilst there is also a B & W clip from Dick Clarks “Where The Action Is” series which exists. Jeff Beck – Have never seen any vision of this track – nor the great version by The Attack.

Hi Ho is an enother example of a really well known hit that has no representation at all. Mention was also made on another thread here of Vinegar Joe and I can't say i've ever seen much footage of them. It has nudged my memory though of seeing a studio interview on Thames' Today programme in the early - mid '70s with Elkie Brooks by Eamonn Andrews and a clip of the band in concert was used to illustrate her past career. I don't know what it was from but is about all I can think of. The programme won't exist but the concert footage might.

Elkie Brooks' official YouTube channel features 2 Vinegar Joe clips, one in b+w from 1972 and one from MusikLaden. I'm sure I've seen an OGWT performance by them as well. The b+w clip is interesting because at the start you see a DVD menu showing it was filmed live in Sweden and suggest the rest of the show exists as well. There's even a fascinating early clip of Elkie in the mid 60's on what I presume is "Shindig." www.youtube.com/user/officialelkiebrooksGreat talent Elkie - still a superb live act.

I'm surprised that The Sandpipers - Guantanamera (1966) and Jeff Beck - Hi Ho Silver Lining (1967) didn't appear on Beat Club or Beat Beat Beat considering how popular they were (and still are), I don't think they did Tienerklanken either. No postings on youtube except for a Sandpipers medley from Spanish TV (1969) which only features about a minute of Guantanamera.

I've also thought of another big hit that I have never seen footage of. And that is Jefferson doing "Baby, Take Me In Your Arms". One of the best pop songs of all time, but I've never seen him sing it.

What was Tienerklanker Nic? I haven't heard of this show and don't know when it rang from and to. I am amazed that more vintage tv pop shows reveal themselves just when I thought I knew every one! I expect there are even more in countries that haven't been properly tapped into yet.
I am pretty sure Vinegar Joe did OGWT early on. I think I've seen a clip. Hi Ho Silver Lining is definitely one that seems to be missing any clips at all although I can remember him doing it more recently for the first time live at a benefit concert (which really doesn't count but it may be all there is). Did Jeff promote it on many shows here or abroad outside of TOTP?

Tienerklanken and Vibrato were programmes broadcast by the Belgian TV networks BRT & RTB. You have probably seen footage from the shows without knowing it, some examples:
The Moody Blues - Nights in white Satin (Tienerklanken 30th July 1968) This is the black & white footage shot outside a huge stately home.
Traffic - Paper Sun/Hole in my shoe (Tienerklanken 1967) Black & white footage of the group larking about in a park & what looks like some kind of museum.
The Jimmy Hendrix Experience- VIDEO SESSION: March 7, 1967 Vibrato, (Belgian television) Hey Joe (lip sync) VIDEO SESSION: March 7, 1967 Tienerklanken BRT, (Belgian television) Hey Joe (lip sync) Stone Free (lip sync)
Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich - Save Me Vibrato, (Belgian television)
Christie - Yellow River (1970) Tienerklanken Not the colour promo by the river Thames, this footage has the band messing about by a river in Belgium shot in black & white.
The Rolling Stones Tienerklanken 16th November 1964 26th November 1967 Vibrato (1967)
The Four Tops - In The Still Of The Night (Tienerklanken - March 15th, 1967) Standing In The Shadows Of Love (Tienerklanken - March 15th, 1967)
Pink Floyd (without Syd Barrett) - 1968
Astronomy Domine Scarecrow Corporal Clegg Paintbox Set The Controls See Emily Play Bike Apples & Oranges
David Gilmour made his film debut with Pink Floyd by recording this series of promotional clips for Belgian TV. Four of the films were shot at RTB TV studios and the remainder in and around Parc de Laeken on the 18th & 19th of February 1968. "Apple & Oranges" was broadcast on the RTB pop music program Vibrato on 27 February 1968. The remaining films, including a photo montage set to "Bike", were shown consecutively as part of the Tienerklanken pop music show broadcast on BRT TV on 31 March 1968.
Astronomy Domine - The Kastival Open Air Festival 31st August 1968
Pink Floyd performed in the afternoon on the 1st day of this 3-day festival. The event was filmed by BRT TV and highlights were shown on the Tienerklanken pop music show broadcast on 8th October 1968.
Deep Purple - Tienerklanken August 1969
Status Quo - Ice In The Sun (Tienerklanken)
