I can't believe we have had no announcement of this find before? That would be amazing if all the lost episodes have suddenly turned up?!

IDK how they found the missing 4 episodes. I know the first two episodes that were already in the archives were off-air copies made on the CV-2000 by Maurice Murphy. As for the other 4 that were just found, idk if they're also off-air or 16mm tele-recordings.
I suspect that Terry Burnett's collection could be related to this rediscovery.

Not from Terry's collection.

Having Booked the day off to do nothing, I have found something I will be doing today !
What an unbelievable find. With the 1948 show finds nearly completing the series and then this turning up complete, its been very exciting for Python fans!
Presumably, someone in the know could tell us how this was found? Fingers crossed for other series!

No - those were regular copies. However episode 1 was originally recorded as two episodes, and those exist on CV2000. The latter two were re-edited into the first episode as broadcast. (All of these were 25 minutes, I'm not talking about any double episode. So the first episode "proper" contains about half of each of the two unused episodes.)

Fingers crossed for other series! There doesn't seem to BE anyone in the know! I mean I spotted a filmed insert at ITV some months ago but that was just a pre-credit quickie. So... I guess... no-one expected the Complete and Utter History...?

Incredible news! Makes you wonder if the original VT’s of the series have been sat in the ITV archive all along.

Yes, telerecordings.....for a series that apparently wasn't sold abroad!

Yes, telerecordings.....for a series that apparently wasn't sold abroad! That is astonishing! I did think it had never been sold abroad! This is a find, if true, that I never expected back!! Also I didn't remember hearing about the 1948 returns! I bought that early 2000s DVD compilation but I hear there now is a much more complete version available now. Not bad for us fans of Python MJ
