What are you guys talking about, it was always b/w. Check the network DVD/BR set: the existing episodes, CV2000, VT, telerecordings and filmed inserts, are all b/w. I was refering to the Chroma Dot Colour Recovery process, which can restore the missing colour to the Black and White prints. It's been used in episodes of Doctor Who, Dad's Army, Steptoe and Son, & Morecambe and Wise. It can only restore colour if there was colour to begin with. This was always a black and white programme.

"British Archivists Found a Lost Comedy Series From the 'Monty Python' Creators" www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a45428217/complete-and-utter-history-of-britain-monty-python-streaming/"According to British Comedy Guide, archivists believed that only the first two episodes of the series survived the test of time. They were part of a 2014 Blu-ray bonus feature—which already sounds like an ancient sentence, even though 2014 was just nine years ago. Somehow, ITV unearthed the remaining four episodes to complete the spoof, which tracks the history of the British Isles. "The series had been sitting in the ITV vaults though mis-catalogued for decades," the channel told British Comedy Guide. "We flagged it to our colleagues in streaming, had the film cleaned and restored from the 16-mm. telerecordings and then finally made available to our viewers for the first time since the original broadcasts." The Times article talks of "the archive team looking to document everything the channel owns." Hopefully more finds will be made public/available.

👆 This sort of thing has happened before but as things are checked, digitised, etc it’ll be subject to the law of diminishing returns.

There's this distinction: when you colour something visual that was never originally coloured, it's colourizing. It's very much guesswork, often doesn't look quite convincing, and might spoil something that was designed for black and white. When you RESTORE the colour of something visual, you're working with something that was once originally coloured. With Chroma Dot Recovery, this original colour was always there encoded in the black and white pattern of the chroma signal. Much less guesswork needed. But shows originally videorecorded in black and white do not have a chroma signal.

But not sadly for viewing in general. Can’t do Britbox. Or Prime etc. But do have Freeview and streaming but can’t afford Netflix etc.

Not in Australia, of course; the subscription machine chucks up when you try to type an Australia postcode.

Could avengers show up in itv archives? Doubt it as the ABC archive was taken over by Studio Canal a very long time ago and the main reason for SC buying it was in fact for The Avengers.

Anyway the true fan should also seek out the two-part version of episode one.
