Blimey, not even the Tony Hancock Appreciation Society have this listed as found!! Wonderful news. Does anyone know where this came from? They have tweeted about it - apparently, it was found by Richard Harrison (?) and there will be a documentary about the discovery on R4 on the 13th. There’s also an article in the next edition of the society magazine. Quality is said to be good but the intro was missing so it’s been re-recorded. |

It seems that Richard is a member of this group: www.radiocircle.org.uk/…and the episode was found on a reel to reel tape from a private collection. It is also believed that there may be other finds as well (not sure if this refers to more Hancocks or not) which will be covered in the R4 documentary. At least one instalment of Desert Island Discs is amongst the recoveries. |

I am that Richard Harrison (without the question mark) - and I'm looking forward to people enjoying 'The Marriage Bureau' when its broadcast on the 18th.
That documentary (on the 13th) is really nice though.
The quality of the Hancock is REALLY good - and (particularly after Keith Wickham's restoration) sounds lovely.

Prompted by the recent Hancock DVD releases this year I've been picking up some of the CD radio boxsets and have thoroughly enjoyed rediscovering this all-time legendary show. Can't wait to hear this 'new' episode! |

One thing that I don't think I saw specified anywhere: was this an off air recording, I mean by someone at home? Were they using discs or were they very early reel to reel owners? |
