I'm planning to watch the animated recon this week, since it's on my DOCTOR WHO playlist.

Depending on how many episodes you watch at a time, The Underwater Menace might not be animated and released in time. If they couldn't get episode 3 of The Web of Fear animated for a release, God only knows how long it would take to animate episodes 1 and 4.

But they did have time for extras for enemy of the world and didn't. Also, they could have had reversed the order of release and had the time to animate

They couldn't get Web of Fear 3 animated in time because they had very little time in which to do it. They've had a couple of years to do something with Underwater Menace. How much time did they need to get the ball rolling for an animated episode to be on a DVD release? The missing episodes were returned and some were being cleaned in April of 2013. Do they need a year? Eighteen months? Two years? It's been a year since The Underwater Menace trailer appeared on the Internet and it was reported later that story was going to be animated, then it was not going to be animated, and now it is going to be animated again. With the plan continually changing, how long will it take to get this project going again if everything was halted?

But they did have time for extras for enemy of the world and didn't. How do you know this? Regardless of all the online speculation, the BBC themselves said they had a very short time to get these things rush released. Why is animation such a big deal? Personally, I prefer the recons.

Animation gives you a sense of visual action to go with the soundtrack, and as far as I am concerned it wins hands down. For that reason alone, I would grudgingly buy Web again with an animated episode 3. Have discussed my issues with recons on here many times before, I won't bore everyone again with them again. Just to stress, this is just my personal view.
