Hi! As I've been reading in this thread about the Charlton '74 show, I thought I'd mention that I have a DVD called 30 Years Of Maximum R&B, Live. This is a German import (on Universal) although I assume it was also released over here, also. It came out on VHS in 1994 and there was a 'companion' 4 CD Box Set (pretty big Who fans will know that, of course!) This contains some of the songs from the BBC2 2nd House programme, recorded at said gig. The songs included are... Substitute Drowned Bell Boy My Generation Blues Yes... it was re-released for DVD about 7 years ago with additional footage. The next project is for something similar for the 50th for 2015 release.

Oooh, excellent! I hope there's plenty of nice unseen - by me, at any rate - live goodies on the DVD next year. I didn't realise there is more on the DVD I have though; I only got it a matter of weeks ago and it's time I refreshed my memory.

Hi Donal, Thanks for all the updates and footage to the new single.
Hopefully you can find the above footage. I think collectors have less than perfect footage which I think has been sourced from video. I hope you can locate a decent source as the 'Won't Get Fooled Again' footage from the 71 period has been used a lot by the BBC.
Is there any chance there'll be footage of The Who playing Westminster College as shot by Canadian TV for Take Thirty in London? It's a bit of a time capsule to how concerts were like in the 60's, how times have changed. I know the Keith Moon changing room footage has been used on other programmes so hopefully The Who have the whole segment.

Hi Everyone, We are indeed searching for rare/lost material. We have '5:15' but only have a time coded 1:14 minute snip of I Don't Know Myself & we have NO copy of Naked Eye! I would be interested in about anything. Preparing a programme to coincide with the 2014-16 World Tour. All footage used comes with credit & some possible VIPs- I can be reached through here (just joined whilst scanning the web for items) or my email bomber1thewho@yahoo.com or on thewho.com at Bomber/Administrator. Pete & Rog are really taking this seriously & I will say we have already received some terrific items, so stay tuned! thanks DonalHi - we have 5:15 in condition pristine now.... STILL need to source I Don't Know Myself & Naked Eye from POPInto 71 Lulu? -- I know they are out there and we still have time. email is above --

Here's the clip of The Who performing Magic Bus on Time For Blackburn which was discovered and shown at the BFI a few years ago.

Opening frenetic camerawork looks like Tony Palmer's directing style.. is that likely?

The band's performance is very similar to that on Beat Club for the same single.

Ah yes, that would be the distinctive directing style of:
Tony 'ignore the guitarist during the solo and concentrate instead repeatedly on close ups of the chap freakin out in the crowd and his bored stiff girlfriend, show long close ups of the guy in the band who is NOT singing, and generally whizz the camera about at a zillion miles per hour making the viewers feel sick while totally missing a classic performance of a classic song by a classic band duly irritating people forevermore in the future...' Palmer then ?

Palmer then ? Got it spot on, Patrick! Palmer did the same carve-up on their performance of "I Can See For Miles" (included in the Sounds Of The Sixties series)..
