I believe the whole Charlton '74 concert is on bootleg. That's one I haven't got.
I think it is out there. Footage was used on the 2012/13 Tour of Keith Moon singing Bell-Boy on the large video screens.

[/quote] at least a part of the concert WAS shown on TV (either ITV or possibly Channel Four - where they going then ? not on BBC I'm fairly sure) - not sure if the entire show, but I clearly remember watching it (Pete did a 'hopping' type dance about at one point) and with Keith Moon doing 'Bellboy' with glee if I remember correctly Yes, Bell Boy definitely exists as it was included in the part of the show broadcast by BBC-2's Second House programme; the video of the song shown on the 2012 /13 tour would have been from this. I was wondering if the full set (including the parts not aired on BBC-2) was taped / still exists though. It seems so from comments above though so hopefully that info is correct. There was also a later 1976 show at the same venue, which I don't think was recorded visually at all (although Capital Radio did transmit the audio at the time - I remember recording it).

Here's some footage that has never been released officially on any of The Who's video or DVD. Check the Reelin' in the Years website and do an advance search for other Who material they have access to but this needs to be released.
There's lots of material from French TV that needs to be located and used.
Surprise Party was re-broadcast on Melody a few years back and is in colour.
Music-Hall De France Live footage from French TV, The Who also perform Dancing in the Street and Man with Money.
This footage can be found on the US Criterion Blu-Ray of Quadrophenia as a bonus feature, just thought I'd mention it for those who didn't know.

The film that accompanied the re-issued 'Substitute' on TOTP (autumn 1976) was from the 1974 Charlton show?

They did perform 'I Can't Explain' as well as 'Substitute' on Dick Clark's 'Where The Action Is'. As with all the British beat groups on the programmes, it's performed with a London background. If I remember correctly, 'I Can't Explain' is performed in front of Tower Bridge.

Just remembered one of the 'Missing Believed Wiped' presentations at the BFI a couple of years ago showed The Who performing 'Magic Bus' on Time For Blackburn. I assume a copy resides at the British Film Institute.

Isle of Wight 69 is another, although probably not good enough quality to use for anything, Voorburg 73, Pontiac 75, Cleveland 75, France 72?, Met 1970 (clips) i suppose are all candidates for the odd bit of footage.

The Who at The Railway Hotel - 11 August 1964. This is rare I believe. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mNpevzcbwM&list=UUai_z75Mm9WO1Yn-ZCh0hLQ In fact the YouTube user who uploaded this (HIWAXarc) has a hundred or so rare rock video clips amongst his other uploaded vidoes. www.youtube.com/user/HIWAXarc/videosThey include The Who - The Beatles - The Stones - Led Zeppelin - The Beach Boys - Deep Purple etc. Many of which I had personally not seen before until I viewed his collection a few weeks ago. Obviously a collector. Seemed to want to hide some of the aforementioned artists from the search engine as the artists have been given not so obvious abbreviations in their titling. (Included in the collection is The Who - Isle Of Wight 1969 and The Beatles - early 1962 - color - approx. 30 seconds)

Hi! As I've been reading in this thread about the Charlton '74 show, I thought I'd mention that I have a DVD called 30 Years Of Maximum R&B, Live. This is a German import (on Universal) although I assume it was also released over here, also. It came out on VHS in 1994 and there was a 'companion' 4 CD Box Set (pretty big Who fans will know that, of course!) This contains some of the songs from the BBC2 2nd House programme, recorded at said gig. The songs included are... Substitute Drowned Bell Boy My Generation Blues
