This is going to be terrible in a way; because I've realised in my mind; many missing appearances are equally important.
Do TOTP films count? If so what I've done is; not necessarily in priority order; compiled a list of my favourite British pop clip memories.
This at least should serve as fun for those who recall these missing gems.
1. NOEL HARRISON windmills of your mind (TOTP 1969 studio)
2. OLIVER good morning starshine (TOTP film 1969 - cereal ad spoof)
3. SIMON AND GARFUNKEL bridge over troubled water (TOTP 1970 appearance - on film. Simon is at piano with Garfunkel standing).
4. RATTLES the witch (TOTP film 1970 - not the studio appearance. This film had a girl dressed as a witch seen through a fish eye lens. She mimicked the hand movements of the groups singer).
5. REDBONE witch queen of new orleans (TOTP film 1971 - shots drifting through Chislehurst caves).
6. RAY STEVENS bridget the midget (TOTP 1971 - VT insert; girl in a wig minaturised dancing in a circle of people).
7. PIGLETS johnnie reggae (TOTP 1971 - VT insert; animation in style of cartoon strip)
8. CAT STEVENS morning has broken (TOTP 1972 studio)
9. AMERICA horse with no name (TOTP 1971 studio)
10. LINDISFARNE meet me on the corner (TOTP 1972 studio - Monty Python clothes)
11. TERRY DACTYL seaside shuffle (TOTP 1972 beach on stage; the classic aforementioned studio appearance)
12. LINDA LEWIS rock a doodle doo (TOTP 1973 studio appearance)
13. CHICORY TIP good grief christina (TOTP 1973 studio - space suits etc. - the LIFT OFF one in space etc. gear would do as well)
14. ROXY MUSIC pajamarama (TOTP 1973 studio)
15. ROY WOOD + AYSHEA farewell on LIFT OFF 1973.
16. THE MOVE california man (TOTP 1972 second appearance with ILEA tv sets Xmas show).
17. PICKETTY WITCH same old feeling (ITV pop show believed LIFT OFF c. 1970 - 71)
18. BEATLES eleanor rigby (TOTP film 1966. - I don't recall it personally but did the song; from the time; which was not represented by a promo or appearance)
Well that wasn't quite twenty!
I recall 'Eleanor Rigby' plus hiss and dodgy signal returning to haunt me on radio luxembourg c. 1969. To think the radio was supposed to help me to sleep but that was yet another night of heebie jeebies for me!!
