It's just been brought to my attention that the TOTP database lists a song which doesn't actually exist. For 15/10/70, 22/10/70 and 12/11/70, it lists a song by Creedence Clearwater Revival called "Bayou Country", played as a 'disc'. However, it turns out that CCR never actually recorded a song of this title, although there was an album of the same name released the previous year. So, does anybody know what the correct title should be? Of course, 15/10/70 still exists, so hopefully someone out there will have seen a copy. Thanks

Watcha Neil!
Just copied this from wikipedia; refers to US hits. The first number is positions.
May 1969 "Bad Moon Rising" 2 1 May 1969 "Lodi" 52 Aug 1969 "Green River" 2 19 Aug 1969 "Commotion" 30 Willy and the Poor Boys Nov 1969 "Down on the Corner" 3 31 Nov 1969 "Fortunate Son" 14
Do you think it might be Down on the Corner. A catchty tune. I can't hum Green River but I can do that with Down on the Corner.
Will go off and investigate more.

Hi Kev.
"Long As I Can See The Light" had already dropped down the chart by then so I can't see it being that one. Maybe once, but not three times!
Bizarre!

Hi Steve.
There was a song on the "Bayou Country" album called "Down On The Bayou". Maybe it was that!?
Strange how TOTP would be playing it 18 months later though, and three times too!
The mystery continues...

Can't help much I'm afraid - of the three editions in question, only 15/10 /70 exists, and it is one of those where the DJ links (Tony Blackburn) are mute. CCR are not one of the featured acts (the single they had out at the time was at 23 and heading down the charts), though they are mentioned on the PasB among several other tracks on each of the three editions. At this time most of the links are done by the DJ with a CSO'd backdrop, and I suspect that various tracks including album tracks were used as an aural backdrop to these sequences. The track used in all three cases is not specified, but the record serial number given looks like it is an album (and it just says "Bayou Country") - it's Liberty LBS83261, and all CCR's singles on Liberty have the prefix LBF.
(One of the other 'backing' tracks used on one of the editions - can't remember which - was CCS's version of "Whole Lotta Love", which wasn't yet the TOTP theme tune...)
