Evening all; off topic question but this is really bugging me. Does anyone know of an online listing for the music videos that would have been shown on the max headroom show? The chat show rather than the cyberpunk series. If anyone can help me out with a source for this info I would be most obliged. I could only find a listing for the first episode. Thanks in advance

17 minutes of the Michael Caine episode (Season 2 Episode 1) has been located, and I am hoping to get a copy of this.

Indeed, that was my thought too. If so, I have one edition on tape myself, although it has got the dreaded white powder syndrome so will need care to rescue.

Hell's teeth!! That's hard to wrap my head around. I did have most of those on VHS tapes off air recordings. I am about 99.9% certain that they were knicked a long time ago. I shall make a trip up to my loft and double check that I am correct in remembering a grubby individual took those (and probably taped over or discarded long ago). Does anyone know the, doubtless jarring, story of how these became lost?

I have torrent files off either (now defunct sites)"the box" or "uknova" for the full series 1 & 2 - so those 2 missing series 2 episodes survive on VHS somewhere (the .AVI files are good quality too); including the complete episode featuring Michael Caine

Online collectors did keep things preserved .
Sadly the sites mentioned have been destroyed which could lead to more shows being missing in the future.

David, would you be able to pass these recordings on to Kaleidoscope?

I'm a bit confused about the missing episodes listed on Lost Shows as there were only two original series of Max Headroom in the UK that I'm aware of, both of which are available in full on various torrent sites.
The show premiered on Thursday, 4th April 1985 with a 1 hour TV movie entitled "Twenty Minutes Into The Future". This is referred to in the TV listing as "The story of how the world's first computer generated television presenter, Max Headroom, was created, as a preview to his own weekly series, beginning Saturday, in which he presents pop videos".
Series 1 ran from 6th April 1985 to 10th May 1985. It was repeated late at night on Channel 4 the following year from 15th July 1986 to 19th August 1986.
The dates given on Lost Shows for the missing Series 2 Episodes 1 and 2 match the dates for the repeats of Series 1, so does that mean the first two episodes of Series 1 have been lost?
The only "new" Max Headroom in 1986 was a Christmas special that aired on Boxing Day.
The second UK series (referred to as Series 3 on Lost Shows) aired on Channel 4 from January 6th 1987 to March 10th 1987. This had a live studio audience and a celebrity guest each week. The guests were:
S02E01 06.01.1987 Michael Caine S02E02 13.01.1987 Vidal Sassoon (missing) S02E03 20.01.1987 Oliver Reed S02E04 27.01.1987 Tracey Ullman S02E05 03.02.1987 Rutger Hauer (missing) S02E06 10.02.1987 David Byrne S02E07 17.02.1987 Howie Mandel (missing) S02E08 24.02.1987 Jack Lemmon (missing) S02E09 03.03.1987 Jackson Browne S02E10 10.03.1987 Jackie Collins (missing)
The only other listing for Max Headroom on Channel 4 during the 80's that I can find is a repeat of the 1986 Xmas special broadcast Christmas Eve 1988. In total then, there appear to be 18 different UK Max Headroom shows, 7 of which possibly no longer exist in their original broadcast format (although I have AVIs of all 18 on my hard drive).
Of course, after his 2 UK Series Max went on to star in a couple of US Series which are available on DVD (so obviously none of those are missing!) The first US show re-uses footage from the original UK TV movie alongside newly recorded material.

And here's me having removed my "I take it this is the same series?" note in my previous post...

Was the Max Headroom chat show exported at all?
Certainly the character was popular in the USA in the 1980s, enough for the infamous TV hack in a PBS screening of Dr Who & for Back To The Future 2 to feature MH like computer versions on 1980s celebs.
