I hadn't quite heard the story that way. I don't know - none of it makes much sense, really. I think we just have to assume that PM would have told us if all hopes of Web 3 being recovered were lost. Richard The very fact that no news of a WOF Special Edition DVD release has even being mentioned, mooted, planned or released prior to any animations of other stories is to me a strong indicator that PM is still in negotiation with the individual(s) who took episode 3,and that there is a good chance it will be returned. Animating a single episode wouldn't be hard and put the story to bed but that hasn't and that makes me very hopeful that PM is as he has always said that 'he's on top of the situation ' as far as getting it back is concerned.

I think it's more likely binned than saved. Hope im wrong but to me it's much more likely that the curator was more concerned with PM taking something than the actual episode. Hope more show up, but with 6 years passing I think most search areas have been explored. Merry Christmas I just don't see a collector chucking it because the BBC have essentially granted amnesty for possession of missing episodes. We collectors don't just pitch things that we know are valuable. In fact, virtually every collector I know goes out of his/her way to preserve the rare items. I can easily see someone sitting on it and thumbing her/his nose at everyone just because s/he can. What I worry about more is someone who just gave an episode some legs and took it home to his kids, who decided that they didn't like the episode, and then *that* got pitched or forgotten.

Here’s my festive ditty ‘though it may not be very witty. By way of explanation I was soon stuck for inspiration …
Good Phil Morris looked about For the Feast of Steven. Had he found it then the ME-count Would now be even. Brightly shone our hopes alright The omnirumour adding fuel. The ME-count still being 97 Is so-o cru-u-el.

To the tune of ‘Klokleda partha menin klatch’
God rest ye merry ME fans
Who might feel some dismay
‘Tis seven years since we rejoiced
On that October day
Yet we were sad when we were told
Web 3 had gone astray
Glad tidings of enemy and web
Enemy and Web
Glad tidings of enemy and web
Since then we have not found a thing
Or heard of any clues
‘Be Patient’ is the mantra, yet
We long for some good news
But the long time that has elapsed
Is giving us the blues
Sad tidings of nothing at all
Nothing at all
Sad tidings of nothing at all
Still now they’ve re-recreated
Some films in cartoon form
Po-wer, macra and faceless ones
They have gone down a storm
It seems these animated films
Have now become the norm
Glad tidings of Evil and Snow(men)
Evil and Snow(men)
Glad tidings of Evil and Snow(men)
But still we yearn for missing gems
Marco, Jano and Pike
Odysseus, Grey and Mavic Chen
Charles Preslin and the like
We wish Phil well in his great quest
To make a lucky strike!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Happy New Year
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Almost 7 years since the original Christmas wish , hmm? Makes you hope Santa's taking his time because he's too busy finding ever more episodes that he's all gonna hand back at once. Merry Christmas, everyone.

VIRGINIA, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men’s or children’s, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge. Yes, VIRGINIA, those episodes exist as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were none yet to find. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished. Nobody sees these shows, but that is no sign that there are none. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen in the world.
No undiscovered Marcos?, no Master Plans?, no Feast of Steven? A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, they will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.
(With apologies to Francis Pharcellus Church and Santa).

My Christmas wish this year is that the fate of WOF3 finally be confirmed for definite. But for now the speculation continues, and to the tune of “O Little Town of Bethlehem” … O Episode 3 of Web of Fear, I wonder where thou lies. That Jos guy took because he’s a crook but did he accept a bribe? Yet in these dark times shineth, Phil’s everlasting zeal. Our hopes and fears of the past few years will finally be revealed. Collector, fan or Fitzroy bod, whoever has whisked it away. We want to see Web of Fear part 3, The Brigadier’s first foray. Please return it to the BBC, or perhaps it has ceased to be. Tossed into a stream within the deepest ravine … or is it with Ian Levine?!?

(your wish is my command)
Philip baby, the years are starting to weigh on me, heavily Not so much a young boy Philip baby, I want the unexpected tonight
Philip baby, can’t even say I’ve had much of a clue, from you No idea from you dear Philip baby, I want the unexpected tonight
Think of all the time I’ve spent Trying to guess what “expect the unexpected” meant Next year, it would be really good If you could just finally put my mind at rest
Philip baby, I want it all, in truth, and that's not a lot If I hear you right, but Philip baby, don’t raise my hopes unfairly tonight
Philip honey, one little thing I really need The truth about your previous finds Philip baby, just tell us what has happened tonight
Philip cutie, and fill my stocking with actual prints, not hints, Put yourself on the line Philip cutie, it’s time to stop being cagey tonight
Those things you found (minus WOF part 3) You’ve no idea the happiness that they brought to me I really do believe in you Please now put me out of my misery
Philip baby, forgot to mention one little thing My thanks, please don’t get me wrong but Philip baby, I want the unexpected tonight
Or explain what’s “unexpected” tonight Please baby, tonight

My Christmas tv wish aside from the usual Evil Of The Daleks in full, would be more like a miracle... a single example of BBC's 1958 Starr And Company soap turning up having been recorded somehow for posterity after all! Some names that appear on Doctor Who appeared on it first!
