Remember that Ian Levine recently located five prints from Season 6 in Taiwan - none of them were missing. Philip Morris could recover 100 prints, 99 of them might exist in a UK archive. I wouldn't care if only 1% of episodes found were missing from the archive if there were some more complete or better quality copies of episodes that already exist.

Hopefully this BFI documentary will be released on You Tube so we can hear for ourselves what was said. Funny how people have such different recollections of an event from just a few hours ago!

I'm afraid you're hearing what you want to hear. Dick Fiddy did not mention any figure other than there could be 100s or 1000s of programmes. In the introduction to Session Two no mention was made of material from Philip Morris. How are you so sure its not YOU hearing what you want to hear? Because I'm a glass half empty person and have seen far too many misrepresentations being taken as fact. I listened very carefully to exactly what was, and wasn't, said and, if you look back, you'll see that I posted Dick Fiddy's 100s or 1000s figure for what Philip Morris might have "acquired" within minutes of hearing it. However, hours later people are saying - incorrectly - that 10,000 was stated. Perhaps you should give more credence to a pessimist with an iPad who posted at c. 5-30pm than an optimist posting when they got home.

I heard that he had recovered 10,000 cans of cat food from a sock drawer but then again I'm on the other side of the world. So I may be mistaken :-)

I posted this: Just finished first session. According to those on the film it seems that Philip Morris has brought hundreds/thousands of programmes back but nobody knows any details. Will take a long time to sort out/restore. Appears he was given an official letter of credentials by BBC and BFI - who are the archivists for ITV. Looking for anything/everything.from the NFT cafe under Waterloo Bridge - looking out at the Thames - at c. 5-30pm today. It may be possible to get a definite timestamp on posts.

DoctorWhoArchive got very excited about the number 10,000 ( twitter.com/DWArchive/statuses/414484151421915136) at the same time you were posting the 100s/1000s. FWIW they were very positive at around 5:30 but by 7:30 they seemed to be taking a few steps back.

John we will have to agree to differ on this point. However I hope we can both agree that the event was an enjoyable one and is an exciting time for future missing TV show recoveries in the years ahead.

Paul V. Are you able to give any thoughts/info on where the episodes found recently by Ian Levine come from? Quite a few people would love to know where it is thought that they originated.
