Hi all, just an interesting idea I came up with on the bus today.

This might sound weird, but along with feast of Steven, the tenth planet is one of two episodes that I never want found. We have the important bits of the episode and it makes the regeneration sequence so much more mysterious considering we can't really see hartnell's condition for the majority of the episode.

Hmm, there aren't any that I would never want found, but I see what you mean - those two would be quite a way off the top of my wants list.

Web of Fear 3, just because it would be another complete Troughton story which we are so short of.

I see what you mean about not finding Tenth planet 4, because we do at least have the regeniration which is one of (if not the most) important part of the episode (although I would love to see the Cybermen and Mondas melting!) but even though it's not in my top 15 most wanted episodes, I would love to see DMP 7, just to see doctor who's first Christmas special.

Indeed, the regeneration scene alone existing does add a certain mythical quality to Tenth Planet 4 - but I'd still love to see Hartnell's final performance (The Three Doctors notwithstanding) as the Doctor. But then again, WoF 3 does have Nicholas Courtney's first performance as Lethbridge-Stewart... and of course, the hilarious driver Evans.

I would rather see Tenth Planet 4, if only because it is William Hartnell's final regular appearance. Web 3 is about my 4th most wanted episode

I prefer Troughton, so I'd like to see Web complete. Though before the recovery of Web, I would have chosen TP 4.

I really feel Billy is much more himself in part 4. Find it and find it soon!

There's a simple metric. Web 3? It's an interior episode. The further toward the middle you go -- usually -- the less important the episode becomes. Perhaps a splicing of 2 to 4 with a couple of minor deletions to gloss over any inconsistent dialogue could actually "complete" the story.

The Brigadier (or, not-yet-the-Brigadier, as he was then ) just randomly appearing? No explanation of 24 minutes worth of events? I'll be honest, personally I'd find that cringeworthy. Would much prefer to have an episode missing but still listen to it/watch a reconstruction than gloss over it entirely

In some cases, it would be very difficult, but I wonder if, using the whole universe of Dr. Who footage for each Doctor, if it would possible to cobble together something with a minimal cringe factor. (There's a similar thing with the Star Trek animated series; some fans use the stills to create comic book art for various stories.)

The Tenth Planet 4.
It would be like saying would you rather have The Crusade 2 or The War Games 10 back...

Y'know, having watched the telesnap reconstruction several times, I could have almost agreed with that until I watched the animated version last week. Then I had to go back and watch the reconstruction from the point where Ben finds the Doctor and Polly in the Cybership. For whatever reason, seeing the 8mm footage of Hartnell stumbling toward the camera with his line "it's far from over!" now seems so much more gripping and I want to see it as more than a collection of low-res off-air bits! I wish AAISAT had recreated the entirety of the last two scenes, although I'm sure recreating the Cybership set would have been prohibitive.
