Web needs its part 3. Not only is it the Brig's first episode it's also full of great interactions with Troughton. It's also the last episode before everyone starts dying. I really wish we had it.

Perhaps, when we get the full details of the recovery there will be some clarification. It may be that it just wasn't there, it may have been destroyed like the RoT episodes in Cyprus, or there may have been an empty film can.

Leaning towards Web 3 since it probably won't be animated and it seems like it's the better episode.

It's a wait and see. Enemy of the World had no extras. That's not an encouraging sign.

If they can animate two episodes of RoT...... ...but I'd really want Planet 55 to do WOF 3!They really upped the ante on TP4,and a serial held in such high regard as WOF(I'm waiting for the DVD release to finally see it),I don't think anyone else would do it justice!Roll on the 2014 release of Moonbase-can't wait!

It's a wait and see. Enemy of the World had no extras. That's not an encouraging sign. Agreed, and perhaps there might be a SE in the future. Bill Kerr is still around, can Auntie afford an air fare to go "down under" to talk to him ? As I've previous noted, perhaps this gives us an insight into what's involved in producing the "extras" we love on a typical Dr Who release. The time between Paul Vanezis conserving/cleaning/stabilising the prints and their release on iTunes wasn't really that long, and included the summer break. The time available to sort out commentaries, produce documentaries, etc wasn't great. During that period someone at Auntie/2|e had to make decisions as to what could/couldn't be included and it looks like a November release for EotW precluded anything. However, based on what has been done for recent releases of incomplete stories, it's difficult to believe that an all-time-classic like WoF wouldn't be released without animating the missing episode and an early 2014 release might well provide for that. As to what else might be included.....

This is a good question! I think I'd choose The Tenth Planet: Episode 4. Does that count as a Hartnell and a Troughton episode?! The Web of Fear is easy to enjoy with a single middle episode missing whereas The Tenth Planet is missing the concluding episode. On top of that, it's Hartnell's final performance as the current Doctor, last episode to feature the original Cyberman design, first to feature a regeneration, it has Ben and Polly and is a pretty good story to boot.
The only factor The Web of Fear: Episode 3 has over "Tenth: 4" is Nicholas Courtney's debut as Lethbridge-Stewart.

For me, it'd be both, but if one or the other, then Web #3 by a country mile.
If it was found, it would fully restore a classic, whereas if TP4 was found it would fully restore an average story, albeit an important average story.

I agree, The Tenth Planet is a good story which is important in the history of the show but The Web of Fear is a much better story that should be enjoyed whole, if say episode 3 of TP was missing would we want that back as much as we do part 4???
I'd say WOF 3 because it's a better episode

I hardly need state it, it has been eloquently put several times already! Web for sure, it is a pretty seminal story in the history of who and there aren't enough complete Troughtons. It is very enjoyable as it is but episode 3 would be a very welcome addition. TP4 is a pretty important episode in the history of the show for obvious reasons and I would naturally be very happy to see it back, but the story has never quite grabbed me in the way that web does.
