Haven't there been any major finds/discoveries lately? There have been some impressive finds in the past few months, but nothing in the way of complete episodes [that I can think of] unfortunately. The finds I'm referring to include the major telesnap recovery, the major soundtrack recovery and the Doctor Who and Out of the Unknown clips (major to me!). Does Missing Believe Wiped screen clips? I've just had a thought - one day, there will be (or won't be) a Missing Believed Wiped where there are no new recoveries to screen...

I found an episode of "Androcles and the Lion" with Julian Glover (BBC 1960) a month or so back -- does that count?

I found an episode of "Androcles and the Lion" with Julian Glover (BBC 1960) a month or so back -- does that count? I think that is a great find, though I wouldn't describe it as "major", but even though I'm unlikely to be attending, it would be good if it was screened.

What I was wondering was, did they ever find the "alternate edit" version of "D For Destruction"?

Take it Terry Jones won't be there then. I'll still support it though.

Partly - the version that exists is *exactly* the length of the original (and only UK) transmission. However that is a bit shorter than any of the other episodes in the season, and there is a jump cut near the end of the episode. This suggests there was an edit late in the day, probably for violence as the cut is during the climactic fight sequence. The archive record of the original 35mm film recording shows too that originally the episode was around 50-55 minutes like the rest of the series. As for an 'alternative' ending being found - pretty unlikely - I've no idea why of all the 35mm episodes only this one (and I think the other missing one from series 1 was also 35mm f/r?) were junked, and this only survived as a fine grain duping print (and then only in a can marked up as another episode of the same series...!). The negative of the 35mm film recording would be the only hope of the missing section turning up, and that, along with the transmission print and mag track and the cut sequences, is long junked.

That's a shame. It would be nice if the extra footage still survived also.

Why did this go top, when the last post was an hour before posts below it?

Lot's of interesting suggestions above but they're mostly BBC and it's an ITV event this year.
Anyway according to the NFT booklet
Programme 1
No Hiding Place and Boyd QC eps, Shaggy Dog (Dennis Potter) and the Hot Snow reel
Programme 2
Footage from Tyranny (Hitler's Sister interview I believe) introduced by director Peter Morley, "A short but memorable missing sci-fi from Gerry Anderson, a treat for Beatles fans" and a complete edition of "Goodbye Again" (Cooke and Moore)

I would just like to point out that the post a few posts aboe by one "B Thomas" is not me. I regularly post on here using this name, and this person is a relative newcomer using the same name as me. If he is reading this, I would like to politely ask him to change his username for any future posts he may make on this site.

I suggest you guys follow my lead and register your full name (or another name) in order to minimise confusion. Anyone can post as a guest under whatever name they choose...

I feel your pain. I have been posting on this site since 2003, and before that on the old forum. Recently however a host of imposters with similar-but not-quite-the-same names have been appearing on this site.
