Hi folks I really don't know if it was on STV as well. I expect there would have been some write up in the P&J or Evening Express at the time though. If you can point me in the direction of any images/ logos / graphics for the YouTube upload I'd be grateful. I don't live in Aberdeen but I'll ask my Aberdeen buddies if they have any other recollections. cheers Bryan

Thanks Bryan
IMHO I would have thought STV would have been interested, especially with the calibre of the groups in the 2nd series
but in the meantime I think i'll look at the Evening Express for May 1969 (for the 1st series) and then May 1970 (for the 2nd) if I see something in print great and I could get a photocopy from the library and upload it to the forum.
Then I could try the same again with the P&J
Thanks for asking your buddies for any recollections

I got the CD of the show today - all sounds pretty good! Very cheesy interview with John Mayall but the music is good. As I suspected the Taste set is cut off. At the mo the whole thing is just one long single audio track so I'll have to do a bit of work to get it into a form that I can post on YouTube.
I'll incorporate some of the info about Popscotch from here when I post if that is okay?

BTW the announcer states that next week's show will have Trader Horne, Matthews Southern Comfort, Cat Stevens so the John Mayall one must have been the first in the 1970 series. That would tie in with my impression of the 'stir' it caused at the time.

UPDATE 26/06/70 .....Writing on the Wall added to the 1970 list for this episode....but funnily no mention of Manfred Mann Chapter III they could have still appeared of course Seeing that Writing on the Wall were one of two unbroadcast test artists, I wonder if they were called in as a last minute replacement for MM. Chapter III who may have had to drop out for some reason.

Another missing performance of 'The Move' doing Brontosaurus. Sighhhhh.. I agree; The Move were one of my favourite groups of the 60's and early 70's, so it's a bummer that the footage is probably gone for good?

Hi Syd, Best way to find out I suppose is if we managed somehow to ask one of the old members of Manfred Man Chapter III as it's unlikely we'd find out in the music or tabloid press

I will start researching Mr Alan Wallis at the National Library of Scotland whenever it's safe to do so in this current Covid 19 world; in the meantime a friend of mine researched this for me. Can any forum member add any light on Mr Wallis and Popscotch ? (Thanks) ...
Alan Wallis directed both Pop Scotch 1969 and 1970
The Stage 22/4/69 Director is Alan Wallis, has started work on a new programme for Grampian Television Pop Scotch 69. Alan was a vision mixer for two years on Ready Steady Go for Rediffusion.
The Stage 28/5/70 - Alan Wallis has started producing and directing a new Grampian series called Pop Scotch 70. Last series before going to LWT. (London Weekend Television)
Alan Wallis born in Morden 15 June 1939, producer and director. Alan Wallis began his directing career at Grampian Television in 1969, where he was responsible for a variety of programmes including a ...
Mr Wallis died in Brighton, East Sussex on 19 February 2004, aged 65, after being seriously ill for the last few months.
Directors are well known for keeping and retaining copies of their work and associated paperwork - was Alan Wallis work donated to the Scottish Library?

I've asked the guys at @stvfootagesales on Twitter- they apparently have access to the Grampian TV archive.
