I saw a B&W clip of Honky Tonk Women on a compilation programme several years ago, which I assumed to be taken from a TOTP broadcast. Different takes, yes. Seems to have been regular practice among certain bands, witness the Paperback Writer & Rain Abbey Road vids; several versions of Hey Jude, 2 versions of Revolution.
Incidentally, and this is Tenuous Link #10b, about the worst promo by a top band EVER has to be Child Of The Moon by The Stones. Compellingly dreadful.

I like the Child of the Moon promo film. I know, a bit bloody weird, me, but....I like it!

I'll concede some good images in there but as a whole ... really??? It's a shame really as it truly is one of their best 60's tracks, an underrated gem.
The Stones' promos, to my jaundiced eyes at any rate, have always seemed a bit naff, except for 2000 Light Years From Home, We Love You, Jumpin' Jack Flash & Have You Seen Your Mother, baby. Yet their TV appearances are wonderful.

Just found this recently uploaded footage of The Who performing "The Seeker" from which the uploader states is from 1970 www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jGspICyk5Iapologies if it's been spotted before - but I haven't seen it before and it looks like TOTP

A great track and, being greedy, it would be wonderful if there was a colour copy in existence. I'm still baffled as to why the BBC won't try and get these great German/Swiss TOTP clips back into their archive - presumably down to money but they could always knock a bit off Graham Norton's wages.

Or better still Liam get rid of him altogether.
