So in theory, the sections that weren't too damaged could be restored for future use, such as this section here which doesn't suffer from too many technical issues. absolutely! It's held by the BBC on 1" tape.

The actual studio tape survives, but the first 36 minutes are damaged. That includes a Hollies song and a solo performance from Jimmy Page. The segment you shared comes after the damaged portion. You're right, it's The Hollies' 'Lady Please' which I have in higher resolution somewhere. Here's the Jimmy Page clip (can't recall The Hollies' clip being quite this bad though it's years since I've watched it). Surely this could be restored to a watchable condition as all the info is there albeit distorted!

I would have thought a script could be written for an image processing program to restore that if someone could be bothered to do it. It seems to be mainly a delayed start to some lines and almost constant to each field/frame though not line to line.

Congratulations to Jeff Leach for spotting this TOTP clip from 06/11/1975! www.youtube.com/watch?v=BT9hXOR-kI0I believe this originates from the Netherlands; the uploader has many clips from there, and it seems like a VHS* copy, rather like 12/12/74's excerpts. Just a guess, but.... * to explain.... the clip probably only exists as a VHS, meaning that someone copied it onto one during the past 40 years and the Avro master isn't there any more. I didn't mean it was recorded on a VHS originally!!!!!
