Yes William, apologies for not thanking you for your wonderful research on The Honeybus and The Idle Race. Thank you. Now can you go and find all these programmes in an airtight cardboard box and copy them and become Santa Claus and deliver them to us all at Christmas!! No.....? Worth a try mate.

William do you know if 'A Tale of Two Rivers' actually got transmitted further than Southern? I think it was shot in 1966 so the 1968 dates seem a bit far away? considering in those fast changing days many of the acts and fashions featured were pretty much passe by 1968 I think? I was wondering if you could check Mar/April 67 ?
(I recall watching Gideon's Way around 68 and thinking how old fashioned it looked)

P.S. I came across this large 2 page article about 'Two Rivers' within Fabulous 208 magazine dated 3rd September 1966 hope you can make out the article, I have tried to catch all the wording, (on the 3rd link read only the left hand side then go to link 4 and follow on, that way it'll make sense; I'll post some more of the photos only later. cheers William

Crikey William that show looks a bit of a classic doesn't it? trust Mike Mansfield to stick a full (1960s technology) VTR rig on a boat- I wonder what ever happened to that show? Thanks tremendously for sticking all those lovely photos up, my humble offering to you is just a clip of Gideon's Way..and even that is subtitled www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2_Z7bfRycM

Thanks for the Gideon's Way clip Peter, but it still does'nt ring a bell with me (oh well)...
Nice theme tune though and I remember John Gregson the actor,
re the building they are based in, that looks suspiciously like the building used in the Beatles film "Help" to portray Old Scotland Yard in the scene were the Beatles are seeking protection from Clang and his thugs in the office of superintendant Gluck.

William here is another Gideon's Way clip with two greats John Hurt and Derren Nesbitt www.youtube.com/watch?v=xajo-SFCMTgAs for Tale of Two Rivers I don't remember that either but JGreen has painted in a bit more of the picture and along with your stuff has made an absolutely fascinating read -thank you both. That show should have really had a prominent network airing on a holiday weekend or something, but little TV stations like Southern and Anglia had a hard job doing that amongst the big five stations.

GoJos update The following is taken from the NME dated 30/3/68 page 8 Hostess Pet Southern-TV's "A Tale of Two Rivers" series-screened in its own local region last year-is to be fully networked on Monday nights from April 15th. The four half-hour shows, all hosted by Petula Clark, were filmed entirely on location on the river Thames and river Seine. Lulu, Marianne Faithfull, Mark Wynter, Claude Francoise and THE GOJOS appear in all four editions. Sandie Shaw and Unit Four Plus Two are featured in the first three. Adam Faith guests in the first and third programme. Dave Clark and Cathy McGowan guest in the second show, and Richard Anthony in the fourth. (end) Hi Peter, Thanks for more of Gideon's Way I really enjoyed watching such accomplished actors re 'A Tale of Two Rivers' it was seemingly fully networked please see above.... but the question is... DOES IT SURVIVE? Strange that the show was filmed around September 1966 but it took until April 1968 for it to be fully networked? cheers William
