ITV hold them all, they just aren't on the ITN Source system.

That thread must be where the general belief that it was held privately came from. So between 2005 and now, the series has turned up in the ITV archive.

Just seen The BFI lists the pilot and also that it was shown in 1972. i don't reckon (maybe wrong) that the pilot was ever shown ? as I think this dates from 68-69....and I think an hour long? HTV I think showed the series when the records were starting to chart, but other regions showed the series when they were well out the chart. Not all the time but they used a fair bit of guerrilla filming (ie,no permission sought just out the back of the van with the camera and back in asap) and pursuaded Gene Pitney to sing '24 Hrs from Tulsa' on the M4 Severn Bridge...no idea if that was in a vehicle or outside LOL. The Sweet's 'Alexander Graham Bell ' was filmed in the Barbican car park because Cash lived there at the time, but by the time many regions saw it Sweet were onto Wigwam Bam. 13 episodes shown in the UK are here uk.imdb.com/title/tt0297545/epcastI have unearthed a few clips of the Dave Cash Radio Programme in cyberspace....here is the very interesting Gene Pitney clip!!!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmvnTqrm-_o

What with the nonchalant attitude of the ITV network and the fact that Dave Cash got into Capital Radio London....otherwise he might have gone on with his rather novel 'TV' pop programme?

A whole pile of clips which are identical to that shown on the Dave Cash radio show were packaged under the title "Music Unlimited" and released under the banner "Sensational Sounds of the 70s" in 2 DVD volumes originally released in 2005 (by the company Quantum Leap).
I did pose some questions concerning the sources of this material back in the day when the DVDs first were released but no definite answers were forthcoming.
The transfers were from 16mm but the optical soundtracks were in very poor shape for the DVD release. Many of the clips have been doing the rounds for a long period of time stretching back to the days of VHS and those Rock N Roll Greatest Years compilations.

If you have a list of clips I would be grateful to see them - I can then ascertain the episodes they are from! The Flirtations clip was shot at Tintern Abbey - which was in the HTV West area as was the Severn Bridge for Gene Pitney. The episode starring the Sweet and Lulu (Resurrection Shuffle and Alexander Graham Bell IIRC), was one shown by Kal a couple of years back.
