Several years ago, on the ITN Source website, there used to be VERY detailed listings of Dave Cash Radio Program episodes, which suggested that these survived. (or at the very least the PasBs did which were then typed out and made viewable on their public database). No longer, as these episode listings don't appear anymore. However, I once made an enquiry about one of these episodes which was then referred to someone at HTV, who said these episodes no longer existed. I'm not entirely convinced by this so was hoping someone on here might know the status of what does and doesn't survive in relation to this interesting show from the early 1970s.

You'll probably find a thread about this on the forum. From what I recall, the conclusion was that Dave Cash holds the prints of most (all?) of the series, as well as the rights. That would probably be why HTV knew nothing about it.
Can anyone confirm that this is the case? I remember Dick Fiddy turned up at least one edition himself some years ago so prints seem to be floating around out there. I remember the series myself from the time.

I have asked Dave Cash about this via Social Media - no response.

I'm pleased to say that Kaleidoscope hold 2 copies of 'The Dave Cash Radio Program' and there is a good chance one might be seen in June, subject to clearance of course.

Yes, it's a TV show. Dave Cash loosely plays himself in it, playing discs at a radio studio, which acts as a kind a link to clips and promos of bands performing. That Lost Shows listing seems to confirm my thought that the series exists in the hands of Mr.Cash. Can anybody confirm this for sure though?

I remember this in the Tyne Tees area. It had the same slot there that Lift Off had. A friend of mine really took the p**s out of me because I said I'd watched it. Don't know why, for a 10 year old, it had some way cool bands on it.

I spoke to Dave Cash some time ago and he said he had no idea what had happened to the series as he would like to see it himself. i gave him some pointers to where he might find it but don't think he had any success? From what I remember he said, the pilot was a different format to what the series to turned to be and was an hour long IIRC and was shot a considerable time before the series. Europe & Florida apparently showed more episodes than the UK and some ITV companies either showed it when it was out of date or not at all. I put what I knew on the IMDB.

Thanks Peter. Well, it's a bit of a mystery then! As Lost Shows lists the series as complete though, I wonder if Chris Perry can comment if he's reading this?

So both ITN and HTV don't seem to hold any copies, nor apparently does Dave Cash as Peter Stirling says. So where are these shows now? This is why I was really quite amazed to discover two shows were held by Kaleidoscope, the first concrete proof I've had for years that two episodes do actually exist. I may also have located someone with a copy of a third show but how many were made and how many have yet to turn up is a complete mystery to me. If Kaleidoscope can get permission to show one of these programmes it would be the first time one has been seen in full in over 40 years. Let's hope this gets the ball rolling and other episodes can be located, come on Ray, do your best.
By the way, does anyone have the detailed listings of the Dave Cash Radio Program that they would care to share here? I'm sure a few of us would find them most interesting...

Hmmm...the plot thickens. Thanks to all for the input into this thread - most interesting...and somewhat mysterious.
These DCRP eps were listed on the ITN Source site but they didn't actually licence them. Think requests were then forwarded to HTV people for them to handle.
My info suggests that the HTV archive was moved to the SWFTA in Plymouth some years ago, but a check by a librarian there could not locate any paperwork suggesting the boxes sitting in a warehouse contained any DCRP material. Frustrating.
This was the only thing I copied and pasted somewhere that I can find from emails sent more than 5 years ago. But a can number and other details suggests this survives...somewhere.
Clip ID: 2284036 Gm library type: HTV OTHER CLIPS TX date: 1972-05-01 Approx TX date: R RX date: 1972-05-01 Running time - minutes: 24 Running time - seconds: Administrator: HARLECH TELEVISION COMPANY Production area: REGIONAL PROGRAMMES Clip title: Clip type: OTHER Historic programme title: STRIX Exploit Issues: Synopsis text: CAN=4079C LOCATION=BS PROGRAMME=DAVE CASH RADIO PROGRAMME STRIX EPISODE=9 A SITUATION COMEDY POP PROGRAMME PRESENTED BY RADIO DJ DAVE CASH AND HIS SCATTY SECRETARY HILARY PRITCHARD / FEATURING GOOD EARLY 1970S POP MUSIC PERFORMED BY SINGERS & POP GROUPS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS Opening Titles Sequence / Comedy sketch Dave Cash cooking flambed mushrooms watched by Hilary / Mungo Jerry singing "Im A Mighty Man" in studio / Dave Cash & Hilary in office / Ralph McTell singing "Streets of London" - outside St Pauls Cathedral
Think this is an incomplete listing of this episode. Other bands also appeared.
Mr Perry may be all over this one - Chris?
cheers LD

There shouldn't be any doubt that at least something exists of the series as I saw one episode at a screening some years ago now. Not sure if it was a Kal or MBW event. One of the music clips featured in it was a Beatles rooftop performance of Get Back (a different edit to that seen in the Let It Be film though). I seem to think it was in b/w as well, although the show was colour. It's a mystery but we need really to hear from Chris on this one now...

Just seen The BFI lists the pilot and also that it was shown in 1972. i don't reckon (maybe wrong) that the pilot was ever shown ? as I think this dates from 68-69....and I think an hour long? HTV I think showed the series when the records were starting to chart, but other regions showed the series when they were well out the chart. Not all the time but they used a fair bit of guerrilla filming (ie,no permission sought just out the back of the van with the camera and back in asap) and pursuaded Gene Pitney to sing '24 Hrs from Tulsa' on the M4 Severn Bridge...no idea if that was in a vehicle or outside LOL. The Sweet's 'Alexander Graham Bell ' was filmed in the Barbican car park because Cash lived there at the time, but by the time many regions saw it Sweet were onto Wigwam Bam. 13 episodes shown in the UK are here uk.imdb.com/title/tt0297545/epcast
