Another two episodes on YouTube in the last week or so. 'The Whole Truth' is from 1964 and 'Skeletons' from 1977.

They're coming thick and fast now - great stuff. Just found two more on YouTube - Nuisance from 1973 and The Frighteners from 1976.

One more added this week - Rummage, from September 1978. Query. An episode titled Cadet was listed for 12 November 1973, but was never shown. Does anyone know why? All imdb says on the subject is that the episode was wiped by the BBC, no reason given. When I was researching Z Cars for the tvtome website I checked the newspapers for the following three days, but could find no reference to the non showing. Also there was nothing in the succeeding issues of The Radio Times. A trivial matter I know, but ut would be interesting to know the inside story.

Bernard
A 'source at the BBC' has kindly seen your post and advises
Actually the episode was shown. It is not listed on the PasB record, but the timings for the other programmes on the PasB record indicate that it has been missed out, not that it was not transmitted. The BBC also has a daily transmission schedule, compiled by presentation, which shows that the episode did go out.
The Z Cars episode Cadet was wiped, as were many episodes of Z Cars – no special reason for it, just the BBC’s standard policy of wiping most VT programmes to reuse the tape.

IIRC one episode of Z Cars was postponed due to the 1970 FA Cup Final replay & caused a it & a few other episodes to be shown out of order.

Many thanks. I wondered how they could have got the cast of the episode on to imdb if it had been wiped and never shown. Mystery solved.

I've just struck gold! There's a site within YouTube called 'The Good Old Days' that features a number of old programmes, including well over 120 episodes of Z Cars, 95 of which have not been available up to now. Magic! Check it out.

An easier way to get on site is simply to go into YouTube and search for 'The Good Old Days'.

Thanks for the heads up. I've downloaded all the Z Cars and quite a few other ITV & BBC series from that channel to watch offline, as you never know when they'll disappear...
