Re C.H.O. I was inspired to go and dig out the original communication from Stephen Hinton (the older brother of the school friend) who appears on the show. Here is what he said to me in 2004.
"The show was come here often, rediffusion, not a music show as such, a young people's magazine.
Post card voting. Some girls at school who used to shun me actually started collecting postcards to vote! (Pulling power soon returned to normal low levels).
I remember sending in a tape I think, and then being asked to come to the studio. The same program showed a science spot about mag lev trains.
I sang live I believe!
Two contestants per show and then a final ( I did not make the final).
The producer assistant was Mick Jackson who went on to do some great stuff if it is the same man.
I'm assuming it is the same future tv mogul!
it went on the week before feb 28 1968".
So there you have it. We can at least date Stephens appearance if not the whole duration of the talent show. Maybe someone here can dig deeper and find out who else appeared.

Much appreciated Tony. If the competition went on till June 68 my contact must have appeared fairly early on. I do remember it going on for ages (or what seemed like ages to a 13 year old) and there being a very wide variety of acts on it, and as i say i have a clear memory of at least a couple of bands being on the psychedelic side of things. one had a name like the cats or the bats or ice or something. certainly a one syllable name, but that's just guesswork and of no help to anyone. I wonder what became of that George Martin recording session.

It looks as though that particular edition of "Living Music" with Pink Floyd just happened to be subtitled "Come here often?" as it was filmed at a club. Also the children's series "Come Here Often" was up and running in 1967, there was an edition shown on Tuesday 18th June 1967 (the day after the "Living Music" programme).

You're right Syd... Come Here Often First edition Tuesday 4th July 1967. There was a photo of presenters Sarah Ward and Cliff Moragn in the Daily Mirror on that day. The show was initially twice a week with shows on Tuesday and Friday, the days that Magpie would folow. It went Tuesdays only at the beginning of 1968.
Daily Mirror Tuesday 17th October 1967 Zoom! Cliff roars down the track CLIFF MORGAN, the former Welsh Rugby International, drives a car round Brands Hatch tonight tor the children's programme " Come Here Often " (ITV. most areas, 5.25). Cliff. who joined Rediffusion as producer of " This Week," says that while he prefers to be creating a programme rather than appearing in It, he stlI enJoys Introducing " Come Here Often " twice a week. " Children," he says, " are far more mature and articulate nowadays than I was at thetr age." They have a better command of the English language. "They are a very critical audienre and, because of their unspoiled views, are fresh and exciting to work with."

I've just found a very few seconds of the intro to the last programme on my second ever audio reel to reel tape.
Theme (part)
Sarah : Hello there and welcome to the 80th Come Here Often and the very last too...... Cliff?: We've had sack fulls of postcards asking for groups , millions and millions pleas asking for everything from the Chicago Hush Town Band to the Beatles...
Then - "As the sun sinks slowly in the west we say farewell, but before we go".. there seems to have been some surprise as there is a bit of a squeal, but that's all I have, it then cuts to a piece of the Dickie Henderson Show with Pete Murray and Wendy Padbury I recorded later.
And it played back on the same Fidelity valve recorder I used (CCIR recording pre-emphasis not NAB like most recorders so it sounds very bassy on anything else.)
