So.............as all 80 episodes are missing, I'm presuming this insert from Come Here Often is a find, correct?

Consider anything by Rediffusion as a find Ray its so scarce that even it turns out to be a duplicate it should be kept IMHO so yes, good work once again. Sarah Ward is now a presenter on a London radio station IIRC trouble is, celebrities tend to have short memories

So.............as all 80 episodes are missing, I'm presuming this insert from Come Here Often is a find, correct? Definitely. I always assumed it was a missing clip though (and not from the edition I wrongly thought existed up to now). I wonder if there's more out there (or even if someone has a print of a whole show)? Just fondly imagining here though. I wonder the same thing about Five O Clock Club sometimes...

I've just looked at the TV Times editions for that period and the last programme was on 23rd July 1968 (the penultimate week before Rediffusion ceased broadcasting), where the blurb says: "Back from their adventures in Singapore come Sarah Ward and Mick Robertson. There are a few last-minute surprises on our 80th - and last - programme". Looking at some of the listings on other weeks, there is no mention of specific guests (the magazines were probably printed in advance of them being finalised) and just give a generic blurb about the programme featuring everything from film to football and that anything can happen etc. etc. Thanks for digging that out Laurence. If still handy I'm curious what the blurb is by the 18 July 1967 listing. Re Sarah Ward....was she a known TV host at the time?

The Youtube clip looks better than domestic open reel video quality so i'm assuming it's from a t/r. The big question is...is it just a clip or a whole existing show?!? That would be a real find! The existence of just this clip proves though that the programme was t/r'd at least to some degree (and for whatever reason - was it networked? I would assume though that timeshift recordings for different regions would have been on tape though).
18th July 1967 is the usual generalised type of blurb: "meet Sarah Ward and Cliff Morgan in this talking - swinging - arguing - making - type programme - indoors, outdoors and everywhere".
Aside from wanting the above to surface in full, I really long for more Barrett-era Pink Floyd to be discovered. But where would it come from?! There are very few other TV appearances they are known to have made (the Dutch "Fan Club" is one that seems to be missing and the other two U.S. appearances are the others; no one seems to have any hard facts on Granada's The Rave). So it would probably have to be some independently-shot film material; I wonder if the long-rumoured-to exist Middle Earth set from December 1967 does survive? A full set filmed in colour is almost too much to hope for but these are the sort of things which need to be looked into now that most of the other crumbs have been either gathered up or have been proven not to exist. Sigh.

Regarding Barrett era Floyd, there should be colour footage of them at the infamous Christmas On Earth event which I think was on December 20th 1967, possibly the final gig they did as a 4 piece. The event was filmed - a few songs by Hendrix and one by Eric Burdon have surfaced... members of Tomorrow have said they saw their footage not long afterwards, but still no trace of Floyd footage or others. Goodness knows what's happened to it or where it is. Hate to admit it, but it does annoy me slightly we have a few Hendrix songs from that event because we've got plenty of Hendrix footage from 1967 whereas there's very little Floyd footage in comparison.

Yes, that's the gig I was referring to. I've seen a full 3 seconds (!) of Floyd footage from it (all that seems to have surfaced), so i've no idea if the rest is still existing somewhere.

Re the 'Come Here Often' thread
- I do recall seeing Pink Floyd on a 'kids show' with Syd Barrett performing Syd's song 'Apples And Oranges' back in the sixties
I am Not sure if it actually was CHO - the timeline re that little known follow up single to 'See Emily Play' might be out - but it was certainly 'Apples And Oranges' they performed and it WAS on a early evening children's show I do recall.
I recall next seeing Pink Floyd on BBC the night man landed on the Moon - by then (July 1969) Dave Gilmour had taken over from Syd Barrett....they performed an instrumental in the BBC studio (I assume BBC have now no doubt 'lost')
I remember on 'CHO' BBC's Welsh Rugby Commentator Cliff Morgan had kids playing a funny game where you had to move across a floor 'gameboard' by putting a foot here, or a knee there or a hand on another square etc....!
Sarah Ward had done BBC's 'Junior Points of View' show where kids sent in their letters - In early 1967 quite a few disgruntled kids had a problem with Patrick Troughton as the New 'Doctor Who' simply because he acted nothing like the 'Grandfatherly' figure that William Hartnell was...!
- also some complaining children (to JPOV) didn't like Patrick Troughton's trousers ! ;D ;D

I wouldn't assume that it's a telerecording. It looks more like a 16mm film insert to me, given that it was shot in a location outside the studio.

Thanks for sharing that John. A few weeks ago I would've thought the timeline makes it unlikely but...I recently heard an account from someone that has a clear memory of Syd's Floyd doing Apples & Oranges on CHO. Apples/Paint Box was released on 17th Nov 67. Thinking it over it would be odd if they didn't promote their new single on TV in the UK at least once. Very true. Although people say that Floyd weren't that big in the UK at that point, they'd just recently had a top ten single so would still have been good currency for a few months. So - as you say - it would have been quite unusual not to promote the follow-up at least once. I wonder if there are any appearances that have not so far been uncovered? It would be a shame if it was CHO though as it's effectively a missing series!

I'm almost certainly the person Chris Moise is referring to regarding the Syd Barrett Apples and Oranges memory. I have an anally retentive memory and remember the show very well. I was 13 at the time. They also had a battle of the bands style pop competition at one point. two acts a week for several weeks. i know this because the older brother of a school friend was on it, singing a rather winsome song about taking O levels. There was a real mixed bag of acts in the competition, including as i recall a couple of fairly full on psychedelic acts with spooky back projections. Another aspect of my childhood that has been completely wiped. Sigh.
