The BFI may or may not have 5 TOTP promo films in their library from wiped editions:-
Andy Williams - Can't Help Falling in Love -19/03/1970 - 16mm & 35mm sepmag Diana Ross - I'm Still Waiting - 19/08/1971 - 35mm sepmag Nilsson - Without You - 17/02/1972 - 35mm cutting copy and A/B negs but no sound Stylistics - Betcha By Golly, Wow - 03/08/1972 - 16mm and 35mm material but no sound Elvis Presley - I'm Leavin - 21/10/1973 - 16mm sepmag
These are from wiped editions.
The Stylistics and Andy Williams are NOT at the BBC, but are at the BFI. The Andy Williams may be a promo featuring the artist, the Stylistics most likely isn't.
Also I have a report that the Good Vibrations promo directed by Peter Whitehead for TOTP in 1966 exists. More on that when I have more info. Bear in mind, there is more than one promo to this song.

hi Ray, just on the good vibrations promo. I have have it on good authority that the Beach Boys themselves are diging deep in the archives to find this type of footage for a 50th anniversary dvd. Maybe they will find some extra goodies. And just on this poin,t I am fairly sure that the Beach Boys took away cines of all their studio top of the pops appearances as they made them. I think Bruce Johnston has been quoted on this in the past.

They are different films. With Good Vibrations - probably the most interesting, I have a Beach Boys expert who will hopefully soon tell me the whys and wherefores of this piece of footage. It was found a few years back, but I can't give you any more info yet.
In regard to BBC4, they haven't forgotten us TOTP fans, don't you worry....

Cant wait for the good vibrations video to hit. Peter Whitehead was commisioned by the Beach Boys to document their 1966 uk tour and indeed footage of this is knocking about. But a totp promo? i knew nothing about this, and always assumed it was a photo montage as per the Barbara ann and i get around totp promos. I cant wait to see it!! Just on good vibrations, some very rare footage of the boys recording this gem has recently been found by capitol records and can be found on the smile sessions website.

The Elvis promo is from 1971 not 1973 as listed. By the way there was another Elvis promo done for the song My Boy this appeared on the 21.11.74 edition apparently it had actors playing the parts of the characters in the song.

Interesting Gary,i didn't realise the Barbara Ann Promo was a photo montage , i remember watching a Totp episode where the Beach Boys were on singing either Good Vibrations or God Only Knows probably a Promo film of either , i also cleary remember the Beatles with Eleanor Rigby being on the same show .It's always stuck in my mind for some strange reason , because i watched the Adam Adamant Lives episode "Sing A Song Of Murder" soon afterwards .

There was a Beach Boys promo film for 'Good Vibrations' shown and released on Beat Club, episode 15 dated 31st December 1966. Just checking it, and it features them arriving at what looks like Heathrow airport. It also features dressing room footage, on stage with their striped shirts and smoking backstage before jumping in their limo and heading off. I presume this is the Peter Whitehead promo?
The Elvis Presley promo for 'My Boy' was shown on Top Of The Pops dated 2/1/75. It was repeated on einsfestival on their recent TOTP run.
