It must have been a real undertaking to keep the lid on those episodes but it was worth it when the titles ran at the NFT yesterday! I much prefer a nice surprise in this way than to having news leak out beforehand - a christmas present, no less.

This is fantastic news, although I can't resist blowing a raspberry and thumbing my nose at the naysayers who said there is nothing else out there.

I was right ! there were " more out there.... somewhere " ... and fingers crossed that my childhood memory of the Rills going up the arched ramps repairing their ship is in episode 3 and not episode 4 yay.... You were right of course, and I'm afraid the story finishes with Peter Purves trapped in the airlock, so no Rill/Ramp action. Sorry to all those I didn't get a chance to speak to yesterday and to those I had to keep the news from. I'm afraid it was necessary to ensure yesterday was a surprise. Paul

Well done indeed, folks. You search all over the world, and the things go and turn up in the UK I'm intrigued by the comment that Underwater Menace:2 would change people's perceptions of the story. I wasn't fortunate enough to be at Sunday's event, so I was wondering if anyone could perhaps elaborate on why that should be? All the best, Jim

I think, rather like The Enemy of the World #3, the (previously) one surviving episode of the story doesn't really do the tale justice. In it's entirity, it quite a good little story, not complicated, but great fun. Episode 2 really adds to the tale, certainly in terms of plot, but also because we get to see much more of the Second Doctor - both his fun and serious sides.

Excellent excellent news indeed that would have had me dancing round my flat in wild ecstasy were my arm not in a bloody sling! However amidst all this excitement it seems to me that the most important thing of all has been overlooked. Seeing as Mr Burnett returned the two episodes in question doesn't Mr Levine owe him a life-size dalek or two now as promised on Blue Peter five years or so ago ;D?

Great news to hear, I can't wait to see this next year.
Hopefully Terry will unearth something else among his contacts.
Can someone tell me more about the print of the Romans, was there something missing from the previous one we had which this one has, or is it something else?

Great news to hear that these two episodes have turned up, not the ones you'd expect either, and after a bit of a recovery drought the total is down to 106! Looking forward to seeing them in their entirety if/when they come out on a Lost In Time 2 set. Well done to everyone concerned for keeping this secret as I'm sure noone wanted to see another Web Of Fear debacle again.
Special mention also to the BBC who actually ran the story of their recovery on the mid-morning news on Radio 2 today... nothing like a bit of free publicity for the event and who knows it may now spur the Corporation into conducting another Treasure Hunt (but don't hold yr breath...)

I'm absolutely gob-smacked : only found out just now as I was unwell most of yesterday and this morning. Why was this not the main story on BBC Ceefax news that I looked at last night?? Well done to everyone involved : I am one of the (few? many?) who has watched nearly every episode since November 1963 (when I was 4 : the exceptions being The Space Pirates story which I had to miss because my late mum decided she wanted to watch Land of the Giants on Anglia instead)), including seeing the 1st episode 2 weeks in a row, and am simply thrilled at this.
