A few years ago I purchased 'The Ice Warriors' VHS collection from the Doctor Who exhibition in Blackpool, since buying this I have only saw this being sold a few times. Is this box set rare or just not being sold any more? And do you think this serial should be made into a DVD For more people to view?

Doctor Who finished on VHS eight years ago, Josh, and I think you'd be hard pushed to find anyone still selling in that format any more. The box set sold extremely well at the time, but that was 13 years ago.
The Ice Warriors will no doubt be available on DVD within the next couple of years.

Thanks. Only asked because I buy all my doctor who on video still before DVD and that seemed to be the hardest one to find along with the tenth planet. Guess people don't sell them because it's good to hold VHS copies of things as well as DVD.

Rare Dr Who videos can fetch quite a lot on Ebay, I sold the first ever VHS for £250.

Blimey! I have that VHS tape. I was told it was worth about a tenner.

I worked as manager of a second-hand video store in the late 1990's/early 2000's, during which time I bought and sold many Doctor Who collections. At their peak, the rarest videos were selling for up to £30 each. The double-packs and special edition tins would regularly sell for £50.
We did sell some ultra-rare (non Doctor Who) videotapes for £100-£150 but certainly nothing for £250! Someone may have foolishly bid that amount on eBay but I doubt they would follow through and complete the sale...
Of course, these days, with most of Doctor Who available on DVD, the video values will have decreased, so you'll be lucky to get much more than a tenner for any Doctor Who release. :-(

Sorry got cut out! I brought the first Dr Who video (in it's original 1983 sleeve) for £7 in a Market stall about five years ago, sold it on eBay for £60! Dr Who videos are now valuable collectors items!

Maybe the original star logo BBC videos (of which there were only seven Doctor Who titles that I'm aware of) may still hold their value - the early ones cost £40 when they were first released which would be the equivalent of £100 in today's money - but the majority aren't worth much.
I remember having over 30 copies of "Snakedance" in stock at one time, which we used to try and sell for £1, and even that was a struggle!

frak DVD's!!! I love videos. 99% of the doctor who's I have are on video!! The more retro the better..... Video is also cool because the Ice Warriors collection box set I have isn't out on DVD and video is the only way I can watch it... Videos will always be better than DVD in my opinion

Dr Who videos are now valuable collectors items! I guess you mean the very earliest ones - the seven with the star logo on them - can still command notable prices? I've got a few of the run-of-the-mill Doctor Who VHS tapes from the 1990s when they were mass-market items, I doubt they are "valuable collectors items". Maybe worth a tenner each at the most.
