It may well be. All I can say is it's been transferred and the BBC know about it!

this is fantastic news. All too often you hear a story like this then it comes to nothing, this however is a brilliant recovery. Not only is it a much sought after clip but its in broadcast quality. Well done to all involved

This is so exciting... however unfortunately we all know what's gonna happen don't we? The BBC will throw it in some TOTP holiday special, with Steve Wright or whoever blabbering all over the start and end of the clip, then some inane captions will ruin the middle section too! Anyway sorry to prick the bubble, but great news and great work recovering this. At least we'll get a break from Starman for a few years!

Yes what a great find this is , and that's not going over the top , but i can't help thinking the only way i'm going to see it is maybe a short clip in some documentry or as Neil just said on some Totp special with that dreadful steve wright ruining it ,but nevertheless brilliant work Ray keep it up.

some one should get this story to Chris Evans. This would make a great piece for the One show which i think he would cover. The story of a clip of Bowie that hasnt been seen for 38 years along with how it was found is just the sort of thing he would cover on there

Not a bad idea.During a recent interview with Steve Harley on The One Show they showed clips of the first Cockney Rebel performing on the OGWT from early 1974. This is the first time since the original broadcast 37 years ago that it's been shown on TV. That particular interview was to do with the song Make Me Smile and it's meaning ( a sneer at the original band members who 'deserted' him) In the case of the Bowie footage it would make a truly fascinating story of how this long lost performance was discovered. The only problem would be is to whether they would show the complete clip? These 'documentry style' approaches tend to concentrate more on the talk than the archive itself.Whatever the outcome a lot of us.even the non Bowie hardcore fan, really want to see this footage.

Far better to keep asking BBC4 to screen it. At least it'll probably get shown in full if they decide to show it. All we'll get is a 10 second clip on anything like The One Show.

but showing it on the one show would raise the awareness of this missing clip and promote the search for missing tv far more than anything on BBC4

I'd like to thank all invovled in recovering this clip, brilliant work.
I think that a One Show story on this would as said be very high profile and may lead to more recoveries.
Perhaps another 'Big Hits 1964-1975' (which was shown as a prelude to the 1976 totp repeats on BBC4) could be put together and include this and many others that have now been recovered. A perfect opportunity would be as a prelude to the 1977 season about to start in the new year?

'I think that a One Show story on this would as said be very high profile and may lead to more recoveries.' Yes, not a bad idea at all. Who's going to volunteer to e-mail them and fill them in?
