On BBC2 so we won't get a logo although I'm sure we'll get the usual caption albeit hopefully short and not too intrusive (like the Big Hits 1964-1975 compilation).

The totp2 show is hosted by mark Radcliffe who is notorious for babbling over intro's!! Hope he shows some respect in the form of silence for this historical Bowie appearance!!

Surprised he chose to sing live (as he did on Starman) as most were clearly miming around this era. Makes it rather more difficult for us overdubbers

Which TV guide is this listed in?
I can't find any mention of it other than on here and the Bowie website.

Just heard all the latest on the Johnnie Walker Show, with John the ex-Beeb 'Tops' cameraman. Fascinating stuff. Ray Langstone, Chris Perry and Kaleidoscope all getting a namecheck. JW had trouble saying goodbye, but I for one didn't mind. Can't wait to see it.

Does anyone know what recovered musical items are being shown at this years "Missing Believe Wiped" at the BFI on the 11th December?
I know " Jean Genie" is supposed to be shown that evening but on the BFI website it states that the evening session will cover recovered musical items from the 50's 60's 70's & 80's.
I'm trying to judge whether it's worth going or not.

I just listened to Johnnie Walker's programme myself and the interesting thing is that John Henshall said on air that he also has other recordings which Chris Perry is going to check out on December 18th and get digitised thereafter (should any be missing). I'm keeping my fingers crossed for more recoveries..!
Hats off to John Henshall for keeping the material in premium quality and to Ray Langstone for his persistence in following this one up. Cheers Ray!

Just thought i'd pop my head up to say how delighted I am that what was a fluke listening to sounds of the 70's has managed to throw up such a historically important clip, I just happened to be travelling to Glasgow that day & the show was on purely by chance as I wouldnt normally get a chance to listen on a Sunday but had time to kill on a 6 hour journey.
Although I dont post on here too often I love top of the pops & religiously follow most of the threads on here & I knew that the best chance of the clip being recovered was to flag it up here. I would like to thank Ray & Chris for following up on the lead & getting the clip back to the BBC. As1972-75 totp was my favourite period of the show I still find it tragic that so many of my memories from that period were wiped by the BBC & I hope that more clips turn up as a result of my original post.
I wonder if John is still in touch with his colleagues from that period? if he was allowed to take copies of his work there may be more out there.

Mark, Glad that you got a name check on the radio by John himself as you got the ball rolling on this one.
