Did it include Lennon? This is news to me! I did not know they appeared on tv. Does Mark Lewisohn mention this? I don't think he does. Could it be another group of this name or a cancelled appearance at the last moment? I am thinking it must be something along these lines as The Quarrymen on tv seems too good to be true. Especially unlikely as they didn't have a record contract at this time. Dave

I thought they just auditioned for the programme and didn't get on to the actual TV show.
It was for unsigned acts, though, if I recall.

Our posts must have crossed, Ray. If it was an unsigned acts show then that explains it. I was right that they didn't make it to the actual show then. Who made that programme? Was it the BBC or ITA?
Was this information of their appearance taken from a listings mag of the time? If so it shows up the danger of relying on them for accurate details as what is transmitted is sometimes different!

Doesn't Jane Eyre 1956 exist in its entirety?
For me it would be Wednesday Play, Armchair Theatre, Thirty Minute Theatre, Z Cars, Dixon of Dock Green, No Hiding Place, any Sunday serial which has gone, Play for Today.
Although I am happy to see anything recovered or to find things exist, it is sad when they go from lost to hidden, just to have the occasional public showing. These things are effectively still lost except to a tiny audience.
So I applaud the likes of Network and Acorn, and the BFI Mediatheques. I just wish there was more scope to make material available. The BBC are the worst offenders for keeping their productions hidden.

A lot of people have wondered whether The Quarrymens appearance on the Carol Levis Show exists because it was called Carol Levis TV Discoveries they apparently sang THINK IT OVER/ ITS SO EASY and COME GO WITH ME ? But they had to get the train back to Liverpool so they missed the final audition and I believe Billy Fury won? You are better off checking Mark Lewishons Beatles Chronicles the actual show was called TV STAR SEARCH 15TH NOVEMBER 1959. It was the Hippodrome Theatre Ardwick, Manchester, now demolished. Or check out SHOUT by Philip Norman they failed an audition for ABC television ,Didsbury, Manchester.

I would like to see some more admags being recovered too. The few I have seen at screenings are a lot of fun. Does anybody know how many exist it total? In the Missing Believed Wiped book, Dick Fiddy states that they were virtually non existent at one time but there is now a healthy number surviving as a result of the various MBW recoveries. A full list of existing editions would be very useful if anyone has such a thing? It is the sort of thing that gets missed in guide books etc.
A bit off track to my own thread I know, but kinda relevant too!

Could someone explain to me what an Admag is? Heres a link for you mate www.teletronic.co.uk/itvstory5.htmI think a stack of these were recovered along with a beatles interview from a garage or something a couple of years ago. Would be nice to see a few more of them online, im not sure they would have much commercial value as a DVD release, outside of this type of forum of course. btw, who is that in your avatar? I cant quite put my finger on it!

ACE OF WANDS seven serpents sulphur and salt.
DOCTOR WHO evil of the Daleks / Fury from the Deep. I also loved the last episode of ABOMINABLE SNOWMEN.
OUT OF THE UNKNOWN the univited / taste of evil. Thought they were the best later ones.
MENACE boys and girls come out to play.
TOP OF THE POPS items I liked like the Johhnie reggae cartoon film and Roxy music PAJAMARAMA.
LIFT OFF the editions featuring Roy Wood from 1973 my favourite period.
