Nigel kneale's the abominable snowman The TV version was called The Creature (as per my post earlier in this thread) - it's the Hammer adaptation that goes by The Abominable Snowman title.

Oh yeah! of course it was!! I was probably thinking about the hammer adaptation or the Troughton story which has a passing resemblance when I typed that!

Something else to add to my 'most wanted': the early plays in the ABC Mystery and Imagination strand, which are reputed to be superior to the surviving Thames era entries.

Missing Who, especially The Dalek's Master Plan, The Massacre and pretty much any Troughton but especially his first story.
I'm elated if anything turns up these days ^_^

Interesting there seems to be a consensus here of what are some of the key missing things. Troughton Who, early Public Eye and Callan, OOTU, Doomwatch, Nigel Kneale, TOTP etc.
I forgot Doomwatch myself until Ian mentioned it. Yes those early episodes are desirable too tho I think the final series was very talky and from what I can remember a travesty of the original premise. So series 3 is not high on my list of most wanted! I would also dearly love to see some early Ace Of Wands as well. Dave

Beatles Juke Box Jury and "It's the Beatles" live in Liverpool 1963. I am convinced that telecines of both of these were made. I believe it was likely the Fabs had copies of both shows, but I doubt they survived the years. Having said that, BBC overseas would have surely wanted to flog these abroad, especially as they were the hottest thing on the planet. Strange S

6. Missing Doomwatch episodes especially Cause of Death and Survival Code Yes, Doomwatch is something that has so far slipped through the DVD net, Ian. Having watched the early episodes too, i'd say that Friday's Child as well as Survival Code (both of which I remember) would both be welcome as two of the series' strongest episodes. The former has been particularly forgotten in the shadow of the latter but it really packed a punch.

It's hard to add to the list above. Troughton Dr Who would be my personal ones to want to see recovered but anything would be worthwhile. A single item being recovered is a cause for celebration. Watching some of the non-cult, non-core stuff at Missing Believed Wiped, etc can be hard going even for the keenest of us but it is great to hear of anything turning up.

Hancock's half hour, Dad's Army, Till Death us do Part, Dr Who, Out of the Unknown, Adam Adamant. Just hope that any future recoveries hotwing it to DVD pretty sharpish.

Just hope that any future recoveries hotwing it to DVD pretty sharpish. A perrennial problem with rediscovered BBC material - programmes can often go from lost to hidden unless they are in the mainstream, as 2|entertain are not known for taking risks on lesser known archive television. People may complain about Network from time to time, but not only do they provide an outlet for obscure and sometimes previously missing television, they also occasionally track down missing programmes themselves - for example, Raven, which was previously incomplete and of a domestic recording standard. If only there was an equivalent for the BBC. Too much of their archive is locked away with little hope of public access.

Most of the things I want recovered are radio programmes, rather then TV (e.g. the Harry Secombe episodes of Hancock's Half Hour) but the TV shows I'd like to see include:
Tales Of A Night-Watchman (starring my great-grandfather in the title role!), Troughton-era Dr Who (of course), Hancock's Half Hour (early TV episodes with Kenneth Williams), Out Of The Unknown, any non-gimmicky performances of Wagner's Ring, any good murder mysteries or whodunnits (sorry, I don't know enough about them to know what's missing).
In fact, just about anything except pop music.

Not that it's ever likely to see release but I'd love to see some episodes of 'Thorndyke' starring Peter Copley recovered. Only the pilot, from the series 'Detective' stills exists in the archives. But that's just my passion for R Austin Freeman's creation of the character.
Other than that I'd love to see some more ABC episodes of Public Eye, some Troughton Dr Who and the missing 1960's BBC Sherlock Homes - though the Peter Cushing ones at least could well still exist in Germany, though possibly with dubbed soundtracks.
