As the topic of the moment is the big news regarding something important to be announced, I thought it interesting to know what others most wanted missing tv items would be if it was possible to rediscover them. Within reason of course. I have listed a few of those I would like to see found. I know lists like this have been done many times but it is a bit of fun and interresting to learn what people think is the most important missing television!
Mine would include some sixties Top of the Pops, some Troughton Dr Who, Out Of The Unknown and series 1 Doomwatch. Also some early Callans and Public Eyes.

OK, here's mine.
Troughton Who, preferably ones that complete half existing stories so that they can live a full and meaningful life again.
The Dad's Army episodes.
The missing episode of The Long Way Home.

Missing Episodes of:- TOTP, Do Not Adjust Your Set, RSG, Tiswas, LNLU, Lift Off, OGWT, Til Death Do Us Part, the Big Match, Tomorrow's World and 45. There are many others. That's just a few off the top of my head!
Does the film of Kenneth Tynan saying 'f#ck' on TV in 1965 exist? I suppose any 'first' would be important! But it's all important to me....

Let's add A for Andromeda and missing Armchair Theatre plays to that list, too... And probably a dozen more that have slipped my mind... The Plane Makers Series 1!

All these choices remind me of more of my own. I had forgotten about A For Andromeda and Ace Of Wands, both of which I would like to see again. Andromeda was a kind of seminal serial of it's time and important in tv terms. Often though it is a mixture of the important and trivial that we want to preserve!

Quite right Dave. I'd be fascinated to see an episode of Peter Cook's short-lived chat show Where Do I Sit? but i'm sure it would be a big let-down and bore. So I can't say it needs to occupy a space in any "most wanted" list of mine when there are so many other choice items that should take priority!

I don't disagree with much of the above. However, I think that recoveries that complete things would be really nice as that would make them more attractive for a potential DVD release.

Beatles and solo stuff - yes I totally agree with that one. Quite a few missing interviews, not to mention the Wings TOTP appearance and Ringo's appearance on 'With a Little Help From My Friends', 24/12/69 (although the unique audio for his song only exists). And there's a fair bit of missing Who as well.

In a dream world, the material I would most like to see recovered would be:
any Troughton who, prefereably season 5 stuff as I suspect that this was one of the pinacles of who, judging from the audios. A for andromeda episodes, a complete run would be infinitely excellent. Missing Hancock's half hour episodes, im not fussy which ones, ive never seen a bad one. The Quatermass experiment. The road, nige kneale. 1930s and 1940s BBc material in general, it would be very interesting to get more of a flavour of what this unrepresented era was actually like. Series one avengers material, but especially the first 2 parter completed and episodes featuring steed. Nigel kneale's the abominable snowman
And if we are including films, London after midnight, any of the missing Murnau films, and silent horror and fantasy films in general.
Wheres father christmas when you need him??
