Reading all the coments about southerns programes & how a lot of them are missing surprised me,as i know that they sold there programe archive to primetime television.Did they just keep there more later programes & junk the older ones?,it seems going by this site ,that rediffusion & southern are top of the league in lost programes.

I believe Southern's programme library was split in two. Primetime bought a lot of it but a company called Southern Star also seem to have some of it. I don't know anything about them other than from a posting here over a year back that said they (and the programmes) are based on the south coast somewhere.
I don't know how sure we can be about exactly which Southern shows have survived. The stuff we largely know about survival rate is listed in the Kal guide (and seems largely to be from the post 1970 colour era) but no one seems to know what Southern Star has in any detail; it's possible something of other thought-lost Southern series are in there. Who knows?
Aren't the Southern programmes now owned by one of the "big two" now? I thought i'd heard of a buy-out.
Ah, Rediffusion! If only we could recover some of their (vastly depleted) archive.

Hi Jaz,
That's great news about the 14 eps of 'Marty Feldman...'!! How the hell did you get 2 full episodes?? I've been trying for years to get hold of even 1 full episode!!!! Were these released by Carlton (they own the series... I think)? Or from other source? ;D

;D Well that explains everything! Come on Jaz what's your secret? Do you have a secret underground bunker piled high with original ITC programmes? Or are you 'enhancing the facts' a little? And in fact all you've got is a 3rd hand vhs of 'marty Feldman...' recorded from Bulgarian TV!!?

Hi Jaz, Sorry for doubting you, but where did you get this material from? As far as I know they've not been released. And whenever I've tried to get any info or access to any material from Carlton (who I managed to find out own the series). I've been blanked and fobbed off. Fez.

So it would seem! Which makes it all the more remarkable that Jaz has managed to get his hands on 2 full eps!!! To be perfectly frank I'm more than a little jealous! Feldman was a comedy genius (imho) and these shows include some of his best material. Jaz do you have some influence at Carlton that enabled you to get hold of these eps? You obviously have contacts where the rest of us don't...you lucky so - and - so! Fez.

Well, a Jaz Wiseman fobbed me off when I enquired at Carlton Video Marketing dept about Peter Cook and Dudley Moore's outing for ATV (also in the Carlton archive!) and further releases of Danger Man. This *may* explain why the Jaz of this thread has had so much luck. He is also one of the people who decide whether something is worth releasing generally. Hopefully the interest from this forum might influence his thinking in future if he is still at Carlton Video/

I was nearly right then! I suppose working for Carlton he hangs around here picking up on memories and seeing what is hot or not? he would make much more money for Carlton if just hired us

So, is Jaz some kind of 'double-agent' type character, Surfing web forums for info on Classic TV? And reporting back to Carlton on what would be financially viable to release!! Sounds a bit off to me. So who's 'side' is he on his 'employers' (Carlton?) or those genuinely interested in these classic programmes? Over to you I think Jaz.
