There's a BritCop Season starting on BBCFOUR shortly and thought some of you may like to know that some episodes of Dixon Of Dock Green and Z Cars are to be repeated as part of it.
August 12th
9.00pm Dixon Of Dock Green - Father In Law
9.30pm Dixon Of Dock Green - Hot Seat
August 19th
9.10pm Z Cars - No title confirmed yet
August 22nd 10.00pm Z Cars - No Title Confirmed yet
Digiguide lists the Z Cars episodes as starring Brian Blessed, Stratford Johns and Frank Windsor so I'm assuming these are early shows.

Amazing! Hopefully the Z Cars will not be the ones that were officially released on VHS back in the day. Good to get some shows from series 2 and later.

Amazing! Hopefully the Z Cars will not be the ones that were officially released on VHS back in the day. Nor, heaven forbid, "Happy Families" for the nth time! It's a good episode but one the BBC have dug out several times. Whilst I'm always happy to see any Z Cars, I do wish the BBC would take some chances and show us more from the 1967 to 1978 era.

It'll be nice to see some Dixon which isn't The Rotten Apple, too.

I don't have the channel myself but it's long overdue for Z-Cars to get an airing anytime anywhere at all! Hopefully not Happy Families, A Place Of Safety (both repeated) or the first three episodes though, which were out on video. There are so many good episodes existing that there's no excuse for unimaginitive repetition!

There is an excuse, though whether you accept it is another matter. BBC4 seems to clear archive programmes for a number of showings, and then show them several times.

I think it's a gimme that a least one of Z Cars episodes will be from the first series and most likely episode one. It's a shame but the BBC lacks any imagination when choosing classic episodes.

It'll be nice to see some Dixon which isn't The Rotten Apple, too. That one keeps getting trotted out because it has Paul Eddington in it 'before he was famous.'

I can't help thinking with Z Cars we may well get "Made For Each Other" due to the Judi Dench factor which would be unfortunate since that episode is in circulation.

Tuesday, August 19, 2008 21.15 Z Cars - Four of a Kind Friday, August 22, 2008 22.00 Z Cars - Friday Night A pathetic wasted opportunity. Episode 1 for the nth time and "Friday Night" on the official released video from 1992. So, for these 4 archive police shows, just one, the 1960 Dixon episode is something we haven't seen in a very long time.

Though I havent actually seen either of these, but I think Arthur Lowe did one and I wouldnt have minded seeing that one too. I think Z Cars is a bit of a lost opportunity though because there are certain eras that could have cherrypicked with an example, perhaps over five nights. And no sign of Softly, Softly, perhaps one of the first successful spin off shows from any British TV series... Still I suppose its cheaper for them to repeat 8 episodes of Life On Mars and boost the DVD sales...
