Reuters is reporting that a Richard Jeffs has found 64 cannisters of film, one of which contained a "lost" Beatles interview from 1964.
It isn't clear from the article if it's only audio or genuinely "film," and the BBC radio played a segment on the radio (again, according to the article).
Have the "appropriate" people in Missing Episode Land been contacted about this? Jeffs still has 62 cannisters to go through.

It's been a good day altogether on the recovery front I can't see any mention of this other (not TV) related recovery news www.zeit.de/online/2008/27/metropolis-vorab-englischIf something as unlikely as this can be recobvered, then anything and everything could still be out there! Cheers Stuart

Have been interested as well to hear what else if anything has been uncovered here ? Have not heard any info since its initial discovery, and mentioning of the Cilla Black reel found with The Beatles Interview. Guessing that time will tell, as what normally happens in situations like this.
Cheers, Lance.

My guess is that they were either a) nothing interesting, or b) badly damaged...
If you handed me a stack of 60 reels of film, I could check them (to find out the contents) in less than a day. So, I can't believe that it's really taking these guys months to look at them... Ergo - they must have either already checked them and determined that there's nothing there, or b) the prints might be so badly damaged that they need to be sent out for any attempt at recovery... Either way, doesn't bode well for anything else to come of it...

Although of course it may be that the copyright owners would want to keep it schtum until they had negotiated release rights for it. ...but you're right, it's probably just someone's home movies.

In answer to some of the questions: In the 63 film cans I have found at least thirty Tele-recordings of TV “ad-mags” from the late ’50s and early ’60s (you may know they were banned from 1963). These programmes are complete and are for multi-products in one show as well as whole programmes on one brand. The products are for tinned food to men's fashions “what the well dressed man will be wearing in 1961”. I have viewed six of them so far and plan to get some others copied from the 16mm shortly. I am using Soho Images in W1. The images I have seen so far are as clear. I believe the cans have probably not been opened for over 40 years. Tracking down the copyright holders was difficult at the start for some of the items. The real problem is finding a producer or broadcaster who can turn this “find” into TV for today’s audience. I thought The Beatles interview was going to be the easiest to place. I was wrong. I could not get any TV channel to even look at the interview. As it is all black and white I can not see anyone wanting to broadcast it - or make a “special” from the images. I met a producer at Capital Radio (GCap plc) who was running a division called Creation. He wanted to make a programme for BBC Radio 4 about a film archive called The Baim Collection (www.baimfilms.com) and some films voiced by Telly Savalas. I told him about the “lost” film cans, he won the commission from BBC Radio 4 and together we produced the radio programme. We licensed the soundtrack of The Beatles from STV. I am told broadcasters find black and white is a “turn off” point for the TV audience. I'd be happy to share information about the rest of the “find”. The reason some might feel they are “not getting enough detail” is that I have only recently discovered missingepisodes.com - (sorry!). Sadly there are no $$$$ here – no one has offered me any money and there is no hidden agenda. I am pleased to have discovered the forums etc., and am grateful for your interest.

Thanks for your information on this Richard - I think your find is absolutely fascinating and amazed by the lack of success or response you seem to have had.
Just a thought - but have you considered approaching a DVD company like Network who seem to specialise in issuing these type of recordings - I think its quite a find and I'm sure I'm only one of many who would love to see them!
Thanks for your update!
