It is theoretically possible that someone could have taken any of the material that was released for junking - but the likelihood is that they were junked, unfortunately. There is and was no signature required to 'prove' anything has been junked - the only way anyone can be sure something was junked is they themselves witnessed it. It's unlikely anyone salted away "Wheel in Space" #5 as those cans are pretty bulky! I'd overlooked the fact that 35mm films are larger than 16mm films! Oh well, there's no harm in being hopeful.

So,
Have we basically deduced that KNIGHT OF JAFFA is just another cruel hoax? Or does anyone believe that the episode posting was genuine, and it really exists out there in the UK?
Thanks,Lance.

The day The Knight of Jaffa is returned is the day I buy and eat my hat. As much as I love The Crusade, it does seem unlikely that we'll ever see it (from the above advert or any other source).

I was just wondering if anyone has heard any news about the guy who purchased the Knight of Jaffa tape ? You don't need to ask, you know - all the discussions can be viewed in the original advert. Click on George's username and, at the bottom, you will see the guestbook entries from Peter and, if you click on Peter's username, you can see all the guestbook entries from George. Last time I checked was at the end of May and George said he still hadn't received a reply from the seller. If a missing episode is found, you'll know about it, believe me.

Hi guys. I found this link on Google. I know the topic is ---many many--- years old but I wanted to confirm ---for certain--- that this was an unfortunate hoax by someone acting with ill thought intensions. I just wanted to ensure this was confirmed with this being the first result on Google. Cheers, Bill.

Hello Bill, I fully understand there in regards. In that after the work of many dedicated individuals ( as well as myself of course ) discovered that the individual did not posses whey they stated they had. I know, yet another hoax to put right next to Tenth Planet 4, Marco Polo: Assassin at Peking. Was asked several times for screen grabs, photos of the film print in question. Never responded, later closed the listing on ioffer, and disappeared into the annals of Doctor Who Hoaxers! However, as we all know, the search goes on. And I for one still continue to persevere, research, and try my best, as always! ;D ;D Bill, would recommend becoming a member here, are many like minded fans and enthuaists for Doctor Who, Radio, And all manner of classic TV, releases, events, and much more..... Cheers, Lance.

I remember another hoax about someone finding the remaining episode of The Celestrial Toymaker in Canada, even though it was never shown there.

I don't recall any hoax of someone finding The Celestial Toymaker in Canada, but there were reports of someone seeing it transmitted there.

Toymaker was mentioned in connection with Canada in Paul Lee's old article, wasn't it? One of the specific stories mentioned; wasn't that the one this person supposedly showed at a convention?
(Of course, the rumour itself was a load of tottenham...)

I remember another hoax about someone finding the remaining episode of The Celestrial Toymaker in Canada, even though it was never shown there. Was this a typo and you meant to type "remaining episodes" or did this hoaxer not realise there are 3 missing eps of this serial?

I think he meant "the remaining [missing] episodes" - ie. those left to be found...

I don't recall any hoax of someone finding The Celestial Toymaker in Canada, but there were reports of someone seeing it transmitted there. In 1999, sometime after The Lion had been found, a guy in charge of a forum was reporting in the news section of that website that he had been informed that the missing episodes of The Celestial Toymaker had been found. I remember going to that site and seeing Doctor Who fans there that were excited by the report. When nothing was confirmed as being found, people began to press the guy with complaints. His defense was that it wasn't his job to ascertain whether the information was accurate or confirm whether something had been found, but to put out the information as quickly as possible.

Actually - the correct thing to do with information that might lead to a recover is NOT to post it in public, but to get in touch with someone (for example Paul Vanezis) who get get the information checked.

I don't recall any hoax of someone finding The Celestial Toymaker in Canada, but there were reports of someone seeing it transmitted there. There was a story, I remember it very clearly, of a fan claiming they had the entirety of The Celestial Toymaker on an obsolete tape format, recorded off air in Canada. They claim they became aware that the episodes were missing, and that they sent the tapes in the post, and never ever heard anything back about it. I have heard this story many times over the years. I've even read usenet posts by the guy directly making the claim. So it's not been a "I heard about this one guy who..." sort of rumour. This individual repeatedly made the same claim over a long period of time. I can't recall his name sadly. I never gave the story much credit, to be honest.
