Here are some of the more "Poptastic" Crackerjack appearances from the mid to late 60s: Oct 1966: Spencer Davis Group (14th), David Garrick (21st) Nov 66 Cat Stevens (4th), Paul Jones (11th), Eric Burdon & The New Animals (18th), Paul & Barry Ryan (25th) Dec 66 Dave Berry (2nd), Small Faces (11th) Jan 67 Wayne Fontana (6th), Dave Dee etc (13th) Oct 67 Procol Harum (6th), Bee Gees (13th), Troggs (27th) Nov 67 Tremeloes (3rd), Flowerpot Men (17th) Dec 67 Cat Stevens (15th), The Herd (22nd), Simon Dupree & The Big Sound (29th) Jan 68 Small Faces (5th), Spencer Davis Group (19th), Tremeloes (26th) Feb 68 Manfred Mann (2nd), Love Affair (9th), The Symbols (16th) Oct 68 Status Quo (26th) Nov 68 The Who (22nd), The Casuals (29th) Dec 68 Tremeloes (again! 6th) Jan 69 Harmony Grass (17th), Manfred Mann and also The Move (24th) Feb 69 Love Affair (14th), Status Quo (21st) Nov 69 Tremeloes (yet again!! 7th) As for presenter Christine Holmes, she had been a member of the group Family Dog, one hit wonders who also included singer/songwriter Albert Hammond. That's probably why they gave her a big build-up on the show. If I remember correctly, she re-appeared in the 70s as "Kristine Sparkle" in a failed attempt to cash-in on Glam-Rock. kristine wrote devil woman , cliff richard hit in 76.

the era i remember was when stu francis was the presenter, Though my earliest memory is of The Goodies 1978 appearance, its the Stu Francis years that have unfortunately scarred my grey memory cells... To this day, I'm forever haunted by the mans lame "catchphrases"... "Oooh, I could crush a grape!" "Oooh, I could wrestle an Action Man!" Toss in the Great Soprendo and The Krankies and the later years of "Crackerjack" were pure TV hell... and whats more that'll probably be all intact in the archives whilst all those great pop performances of the 60s and early 70s have gone... "Oooh..."

Really? I always thought it was Terry Britton, ex leader of Aussie 60s group The Twilights, wot wrote it. Or did he write We Don't Talk Anymore?

Does anyone remember a vocal group, The New Faces, who were regular musical guests on Crackerjack (CRA-CKER-JACK) in the early 1970's? I've always wondered what became of them? They had a single which got Junior Choice airplay (and little else probably) ... would love an mp3 of it so I can play it in my 70's radio show.

A No. 9 UK hit in June 1976, "Devil Woman" became Richard's first single to reach the Top 20 in the US, reaching No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, which was Richard's highest peaking single. "Devil Woman" is the third biggest-selling Cliff Richard single with over two million copies sold worldwide. (That's because it is actually quite good! - RL)

It's funny about Devil Woman ... Christian Cliff was happy to promote it and sing it inspite of its diabolical associations and references ... yetHonky Tonk Angel, which was about a lady of the night, he disowned on the grounds of its subject matter ...

www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rCxFMNw46QOooh blimey! It LOOKS very Crackerjack, doesn't it? I'm not sure. Well spotted anyway, Mark, and we need to check this. It's not their 1972 Basil Brush Show, that's for sure.

Could anyone confirm whether or not The Who performed Magic Bus on Crackerjack? I believe there is billing for this but I find it too mouth wateringly promising to be true.
