I've often thought about this too. I wonder how much RSG material Clark has that wasn't in the compilations. Did he use virtually all, I wonder? I wonder if he'll ever do anything with it as far as DVD is concerned?

I remember a few quotes from dave clake in the newspaper at the time of the RSG video release . At the time he was saying that the videos contained most if not all of his archive. I think he went on to say that he bought the reels at an auction. I can certainly say the reels did not belong to him in 1977 as a lengthy beach boy extract was shown on whistle test and a beatles clip was shown on revolver, neither had any credited thanks to dave clarke.
my own belief is that the archive died with assoc. rediffusion, you know, the one thats kept in a secret vault somewhere or more sensibly was wiped by thames so they could use the tapes for local news progs.

1977 / 78 could well be about the time that the RSG material was on offer as a certain amount of Rediffusion stuff went to Thames at this time for re-use. So Clark could possibly have stepped in at this point. Incidentally, what was the Beach Boys clip? I don't recall one in the repeats / compilations by the group offhand. I must go and check.

Hey Laurence: The Beach Boys appearance (live, incidentally..these boys could play!) comprised "I Get Around" and "When I Grow Up To Be A Man" (complete with false start).
Cheers, Shaun

Mick Jagger introducing a miming contest to Sonny & Cher's I got you babe. Interview with Kieth Fordyce and the Beach Boys Special Guest Interview with Burt Bacharach. Martha Reeves interview Keith Fordyce interviews P.J. Proby
In fact i have quite a lot of the continuity from the episodes from which the above clips come from.
There is enough of quite a few individual episodes above, to make me think that the entire things exist out there somewhere (probably in Dave Clarks archive). Also, can anyone date the bits above that I havent managed to date??
I was once told by someone (or read somewhere) that Dave Clark used to have it in the DC5 contract that DC5 would only appear if he received a telecined copy of the performance after the show. It wouldn't be uncommon to recieve a telecined copy of the entire show and not just the DC5 part - so it makes you wonder what else he has. Of course, I am just repeating what I heard somewhere.

re: I D G's R.S.G ARCHIVE.
I have always understood that what was shown on channel 4 years ago was all that was left of R.S.G.
I was led to believe that it was all on a reel found at the Wembley tax office that was formerly ass.redifussions studios.
the "rare" tracks could be the DC5 stuff and the waker bros. maybe shout and shimmy by the Who. i dont think ive seen any of this but maybe my memory is playing tricks on me.. where did you pick this up from...maybe Dave Clarke has got more than i suspect...lets hope so.

I got it from the most unlikely of sources ....... some Thai guy I met whilst on holiday in Bangkok!!! - friend of a friend of a friend as it were.
I got most of the Ready Steady Go off him plus a load of Beatles stuff like
Live in paris 1965 clips Blackpool night out (complete from the time the beatles it the stage to the end of the credits) NME awards 1965 Shindig 1965 Help! Award footage Spain tour footage (mostly from old newsreels) The complete intertel video collection Footage from the Beatles in Australia The entire Shea Stadium gig (minus the first 2 songs) - not particularly good quality though And finally a couple of clips of the Beatles at Candlestick Park in U.S.
The other Ready Steady Go stuff I have just seemed to stumble across on compilatioon discs from different places. Its out there if you care to look.
A big give away is that on RSG, cameramen used to get in shot quite often....and their television cameras would have "RSG" printed on the side of them. All you have to do is spot it in the slip.
I had a beatles compilation DVD given to me ages ago which had an entire TV performance of She loves you on it....and sure enough, there was the cameraman in shot with RSG written on the side of his camera.
