So did the Bealtes live TOTP '66 come to nothing then? It seemed too good to be true.
What is interesting is the new bootleg DVD that has surfaced containing some amazing promos in pristine quality.

AS I haven't see n it myself I can't personally comment. But I am told it has some "alternate" versions of promos in a quality that would make the "Anthology" blush. The word is they have escaped from an official source. They labor under the title "Picture Perfect"...... Anyone else have any clues?

It's about time some of this material surfaced (and in good quality) seeing as we can't rely on Apple to get it right with any official releases, notably not even a basic definitive (and untampered-with) Beatles Greatest Hits DVD, which is long overdue.

I found out that these Beatles promos are being offered as a 2 dvd set. They go by the name "Chronology 1962-1970) You can find them on the internet on e-bay.

Apple WILL release the definitive Beatles promo compilation on DVD, it will come out around the same time as the “Let it be” DVD, I’m sure our Great Great Great Great Grandchildren will be first in the queue to buy it on the day of release.

They need to get something out- the amount they're losing must be phenomonal. To compound matters further a "complete", undoctored, version of "The Beatles @shea Stadium" is doing the rounds.

When you say "complete" and "undoctored" are you referring to raw footage of the ENTIRE beatles concert (omitted "everybody's trying to be my baby" and 1 or 2 0ther songs without the after inserted overdubs and insertion of hollywood bowl audio on some tracks? This would be really great to see. Another great item to see would be the entire 2/11/64 Washington, DC concert in video format. A few songs made it on the anthology but for years we have been seeing grainy film for the remainder of the other songs. This is an amazing concert because it really sums up the beatlemania hype in the US when it was at an all time high. A remastered Let it be dvd with an extra disk of unreleased outtakes and interviews would be nice too.

There are a number of Beatles concerts that could / should make excellent DVD releases , such as the Melbourne Festival Hall '64 and Palais Des Sports, Paris '65. Such a world famous name - why do they lag behind so many other lesser acts in terms of what is available? A crime.

Those concerts would be good too. The Australian concert is a good quality concert (both performance and video) The quality (video) and filming of the Paris is not up to the same level, but nevertheless a great show.

Both the japan concerts (white and black suits) are great quality and definitely ahead of their time. However, the performances are not up to snuff like the 1964 and 1965 concerts. Ringo definitely does not look into it. Paul is the consumate showman in the concerts. I would like to see an official release of the concerts and one of the press conferences.
The white suit concert is not as good quality as the dark suit. I heard a long time ago that the Japan tv station gave the master to Brian Epstein but retained a copy in lesser quality. Still great quality for the time. Maybe one of the earliest surviving rock concerts in the VIDEO format

I've just bought Chronology 1 to see what it was like after reading some of these comments. Quality is very very good generally, some better than others. Sound has been re-dubbed with the stereo official release, generally where they were miming orginially but original soundtrack is kept on others. They must all be copied from master tapes as there are no TV logos spoiling the viewing and the songs are (mostly) complete versions. Highlights for me on this DVD were - Hey Jude and Revolution complete with voice count-in at the beginning. Complete black and white versions (with VT clocks) of Paperback writer (3 takes). Help! - the film opening but lacking the darts! Black and White version of Rain. I'm going to get Chronology 2 now that I've seen 1!
