I apologise in advance cause I'm sure this has been answered before: please can someone confirm the original tx dates of the 4 extant TOTP episodes from the 60s as mentioned on BBC4 at the weekend? I think one is the Boxing Day 67 special? Have any of them ever been repeated in their entirety? Many thanks.

Complete 1960s TOTPs: 26/12/67 15/02/68 06/06/68 27/02/69
None have been repeated complete, at least not by the BBC...

Is there any evidence- "a friend of a friend read somewhere and then told my aunt who mentioned to me" type stuff aside -that the rumours of these episodes being in the U.S. hold water? Call me skeptical, but it does seem, y'know, slightly iffy that one of them is amongst the most desirable pieces of missing music television from the 1960s!

The Beatles' 'Paperback Writer' / 'Rain' TOTP is in the possession of an American Beatles collector who bought it from an ex-BBC employee. The ex-employee bought it along with a lot of old BBC equipment, and found that there were a couple of B&W telerecordings, one of which was TOTP. Don't know what the other material was, though. The producers of the 'Anthology' tv/video series had a copy which was apparently too poor to use.

No offence to anyone on the forum but I think the 16/6/66 edition surviving is a myth.
If it does exist some or all of the show would have turned up somewhere by now. Plus I don't think there is anybody who can go on record as saying they've actually seen all or some of this edition.
I would very much like to be proved wrong but I'm not holding my breath.

That's my thinking too, Richard. Something would have surfaced by now if these episodes were about. Ditto for the often rumoured TOTP "See Emily Play" clip, which is supposed to be lurking somewhere in the U.S. At the very least, surely screen grabs of this material would have appeared by now? Anyone have a source for the story that Apple have "Paperback Writer" and "Rain" in poor condition? has this been officially confirmed?

I'm in too minds about this I would have thought some evidence would have surfaced even if it was only sightings, however having met some of these collectors I know how secretive they can be it can take years to persuade them to admit to owning material and they never let any evidence slip out. one good thing about this is that the rumours have stayed consistent hinting at a single source of information rather than multiple wild speculation

i thought paperback and rain only the inserts existed, as there on the anthology video.
As for TOTP so what the the 1964 clips that were shown on sounds of the 60s?
