Well, here are the ones I've picked up on so far. If anyone comes across others, it would probably be easier for Laurence if we post them all here: - 5/2/70 Barry Ryan “Magical Spell” duplicated: also listed as “Magical Spiel”
- 29/4/71: Rod Stewart/Faces – “Bad And Ruin” listed as “Mothers’ Ruin”. In addition, duplicate entry for “Richmond” also listed as “Rich Man”.
- 15/11/73: Full edition exists – entries need cleaning up; some duplication; some performances listed as existing, some not.
Note: there are other instances of duplication, but I am sure that these will be cleaned up in time.
- 27/11/74 3 songs listed; DLT presenter. Out of sequence; 28/11/74 also listed; Paul Burnett presenter; 3 tracks already mentioned included in this edition.
- 29/9/76 believe the entries relate to 29/7/76; David Hamilton presenter.
Performances listed as not existing which have been shown on TOTP2[/b] - Neil Diamond – “I Am I Said” 27/5/71
- Rod Stewart – “You Wear It Well” 17/8/72; 31/8/72 or 25/12/72
- Slade – “Cum On Feel The Noize” (clip on TOTP2 site recorded as 3/3/73– could be 22/2/73; 1/3/73; 8/3/73 or 15/3/73)
That's me done for now. If I spot any others, I will post them here.

Thanks for the info. Keep it coming!
A couple of points: Was the Neil Diamond clip definitely TOTP (27/5/71)? This is officially missing. It could have been Disco or something else.
Bad & Ruin is actually the wrong title (Faces) Tony Blackburn got it wrong!
I'll have to check up on the other stuff before coming back to you...

Thanks for the info. Keep it coming! Bad & Ruin is actually the wrong title (Faces) Tony Blackburn got it wrong! You sure about this? I don't have a copy to check, but multiple online sources indicate "Bad'n'Ruin" as the first track on The Faces "long Player" album...

Ah, you may be right! I was told this by a "Faces expert" - seems he was wrong. Thanks for pointing it out.
Incidentally, if anyone has seen any more obvious errors in the database, if they can post them here within the next day or so and I will get them changed. Otherwise, it may be a while before they're altered. Cheers!

As far as the Neil Diamond clip goes, can't be totally sure if its TOTP or not as I haven't got a copy of the performance to check. There are, however, what look like some screenshots on the following site which may help: www.mosleykm.freeserve.co.uk/top_of_the_pops.htmDate quoted says 3/6/71, but obviously if you read the detail you can tell its 27/5/71.

Are those screengrabs from the performance that was shown on TOTP2? It looks like a TOTP appearance but I can't say for sure. Anyone got the clip to that was on TOTP2 to confirm or disprove? When was it on?

The Neil Diamond clip of I Am, I Said is more likely to be from the edition of In Concert that featured him. It was broadcast on 4-9-71 and still exists.

Hi Laurence, I don't envy you for doing this; it must be taking up a lot of time and effort. I've had a quick look down 1970 and 1971, and have picked out the following: - have cross referenced with the Guiness Book in some cases: - 15/1/70 Kenny Rogers & The First Edition "Something's Burning" listed as "Something's Happening"
Peddlers "Girlie" listed as "Girley"
- 29/1/70 duplicate entries
- 5/2/70 duplicate entries; Sandie Shaw "By Tomorrow" also listed as "Tomorrow"
- 26/2/70 Cufflinks - "When Julie Comes Around" also listed as "Jude"; other duplicate entries
- 27/8/70 Family - "Weaver's Answer" listed as existing. I hope this is correct!!
- 31/12/70 No presenter listed
- 14/1/71 duplicate entries
- 25/2/71 This edition is supposed to exist in full - some duplication; some performances listed as not existing when they do e.g. Chairman Of The Board/Pan's People "Everything's Tuesday"
- 1/7/71 and other dates Delfonics listed as "Delphonics"
The main issue, I think is duplication of some entries which can probably be sorted out in a few hits. If I come up with anything in the meantime, I will post it here. Have enjoyed looking down what acts were appearing on the show in this period. Some surprises; quite a lot of people I have never heard of!! All the Best, Mark

Thanks for the corrections. These errors aren't on my original documentation but happened during transfer to the web. This was out of my control but I have a few more days to get as many corrected as I can. Otherwise they will stay put for a few months or so.

The Bolan archive is completely screwed up on the database. Can someone sort this there are so many missing entries . the ones that are there come under bolan or T.rex

I had the same problem looking at the T.Rex stuff but if you search for REX only you'll get the full T.Rex list. Apparently a similar thing happens with 10CC but I haven't tried that yet...

Hi Laurence,
Are you looking at ALL the Database or just the section you looked at i.e. up to the mid 1970s?
If its ALL, then 7/7/77 is showing as 7/7/82 so that's a blatant one which should be corrected. Also, there is no edition listed for 9/9/82 so I don't know if one was originally broadcast.
I'm sure someone mentioned something about this before, but I can't remember what was said.

Can you tell me what all these missing T.Rex entries are then, Bob? I did a search and got a pretty full listing. One or two are listed as Marc Bolan & T.Rex because that's how they were listed originally. I can't see how it's "completely screwed up".
There is such a huge volume of info on TOTP that errors will be inevitable to a degree; they will be corrected in time. PATIENCE is the key here. At one time people were moaning that there was no publically accessible reference resource for TOTP (I know - I was one of them). Now there IS, it seems it isn't good enough. Some people are never happy...

I mentioned this on the TOTP2 Board, but its probably worth mentioning here as well, in relation to the 1976 editions: - 3/6/76: only Our Kid "You Just Might See Cry" listed; no presenter.
- 19/8/76 only 4 songs listed.
More importantly, I was always under the impression that all shows from 30/9/76 existed, but according to the entries which have just gone on, that is not the case. Missing editions from late 1976 are: - 11/11/76
- 18/11/76 (1st David "Kid" Jensen edition)
- 2/12/76
- 16/12/76
Have these editions definitely gone? Also, was there an edition broadcast on 30/12/76 as there is nothing listed?

Just speaking for myself, I know I've said it before, but just to reiterate. I am very impressed with the TOTP Database as it is a very useful information tool, so I am grateful to Laurence and others who put it together. I can't think of any other programme that has a facility such as this, available to everyone on the Web. Totally accept the point about errors creeping in. I scanned down 2 years worth of info, just to see what I could find. I posted my findings here, as a logical reference point. I was very impressed to see that most, if not all of the errors I picked up on have been corrected already. Therefore, I don't envy anyone transcribing about 40 years worth of info. If I find anything else, I will post it here and I am sure others will do the same. This should not be taken as "nit-picking" or "picking holes" in a piece of work which is already impressive. I would like to see the information quoted as accurate as it can possibily be, and if there is any way I can contribute to making this happen, I will do it.
