Any corrections are most welcome, Mark - I ASKED for 'em after all. Keep them coming. It's just so damned time-consuming but I am determined that it will all be done eventually as I want the database to be something people can rely on for accuracy. I am concentrating on correcting as much as I can over the next couple of days but won't have another chance after that for a while, so get 'em in quick!
Some of the errors I have already sorted. The 31/12/70 show had no presenter, by the way (a new year special subtitled Pop Into '71 - not the regular format).
Although Kal lists Sept '76 as the point where TOTP becomes complete, there seem to be a few more missing after that.
As far as dates are concerned, if there is no edition at all for a particular date then (with exceptions - see below) assume that is because no edition was transmitted there, for whatever reason. 30/12/76 seems to be one such instance as there is no P as B for this date.
In the first 13 years of the show, I only have encountered 4 dates that can't be accounted for on any documentation (discounting dates when TOTP was definitely cancelled due to sport, strikes etc). Those 4 are 12/4/73 (possibly also cancelled due to strike but so far i've been unable to confirm this for sure), 20/4/73, 7/9/73 and 12/8/76 (the latter seems just to be missing it's paperwork though). It confuses matters somewhat as when an edition is cancelled, sometimes the numbering carries on next week as if the show went out!
Keep the corrections coming, Mark. They are very helpful. We'll get there in the end...

Cheers Laurence - will do. Pleased to see that 7/7/77 is now in its rightful place - bearing in mind that I only mentioned it a few hours ago!! Keep up the good work...

Yes, it's like searching for a needle in a haystack, unless you know the specific error you're looking for.

Just a few other points about the database, in case anyone wondered...
Due to a hiccup in the system, editions inserted recently are not falling into chronological sequence (which they should be!) So for the moment they will stay that way - iI am reliably informed it's a lot of effort for anyone to sort it quickly. At least the editions are there to access.
I am correcting all the different periods of the show now so any errors spotted from whatever year are welcome. Some more recent shows are missing information too and this is slowly being corrected.

Thanks for all the corrections. I'll keep 'em to hand for when I get a chance to sort it all. There seems to be a bug which has caused a lot of the entires to be duplicated all over the place! There are simply too many to go back to the original files to check today (sometimes one entry says "performance" and the other says "repeat", so it's generally impossible to guess at which needs to be deleted!)
Anyway, keep posting the amendments here as you find them and i'll gather them all...

I haven't noticed these ones being mentioned before, but...
On 17.06.1971 both The Sweet & Sweet are said to have performed "Co-Co". The Sweet's performance of 24.07.1974 is said to be "Piece Of The Action" which should just be "Action", & there is a The Sweet/Sweet issue for "Fox On The Run" on 23.12.1975.
Hope this helps.
Cheers, Chris.

Its a bit like painting the house all anyone says is "you missed a bit" any way we do all apreciate the DataBase and it is virtualy impossible to do something of this size without some errors. The fact that people can pick out individual omissions means that it is easy to read and understand.

Was the 9/1/1969 edition ever broadcasted or no information on the show is available on the database?

Post by Laurence Piper on Aug 10, 2003 9:30:50 GMT
Yes. there was a TOTP show broadcast on 9/1/69. If it's not there then it's a database problem. It will be corrected in due course.
