Andy,
In my opinion, this is one of the best shows I've ever watched! 1960's Doctor Who is not kids TV -- a kid wouldn't understand it! They are quite complexed story lines!!!
But 1960's Doctor Who is the ultimate! I don't understand how you couldn't like it! This is better than Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee in my opinion.
Obviously, there are many other people who like the old stuff too and thought it was just classic TV!
I find the things you said rather insulting.
You don't know "gold" when you see it! Why don't you re-watch some b&w Doctor Who and see for yourself!
That's why people go on about it! If you like a show with missing episodes, I wouldn't judge you, I'd share the grief with you! Because I understand what it's like to have missing episodes!
I could never ever forgive the BBC for deleting it. They shouldn't put the burden on the fans to go and look for it all. If I'd worked at the BBC, I'd beg them to let me take all the episdoes home and lose my job rather than have them destroyed.

Don't want to get into this debate again (see "Have the BBC ever apologised?"), but the BBC doesn't expect anyone to search for missing episodes. The people searching for missing episodes are doing it because they care and want them returned. You can't expect the BBC to keep spending money searching for what, as far as most people are concerned and in all liklihood, doesn't exist.

(Sorry gang, I just couldn't resist asking!)
