I wish.
Has there been any official word regarding representation of missing episodes? I’d assume the animations would be okay. Anything else though? I’ve my doubts they even have placeholders explaining what the missing stories were about… and I doubt they’d release orphan episodes like Masterplan or Space Pirates…

Sorry I think people may be reading this the wrong way.
Extant episodes may be missing from the iplayer line-up.
But that's in some ways only fitting, probably.

I think the missing episodes will be on there through as just audio or as reconstructions.

Nope, RTD is involved in this, he has an annoucement to make, as stated in the article; he would not be roped in over animations/reconstructions. If you recall RTD (among others) was linked with the rumoured recovery of a huge haul back in 2013. It's time to put to bed all the stuck-record naysaying (snore) and to get partying... tremendous times ahead for us all.

Slight misunderstanding with the thread title Andy! Bar An Unearthly Child - "However, it appears that fans will still be getting all the rest of the classic era alongside the already-available modern era" - All. Ok? Apologies if this is the unexpected, but that's what we were told to expect way back...

Plus this further quote from RTD -
I'd like to thank the BBC for all the hard work, to get this massive back catalogue under one roof, at long last," incoming showrunner Russell T Davies said.
"I'm so excited for new viewers - imagine being 8 years old, spending winter afternoons exploring the 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond. And we're determined this won't be a dusty museum - we have exciting plans to bring the back catalogue to life, with much more to be revealed!”
Much more to be revealed...
Basically, this is it.

"The broadcaster has confirmed that the first four episodes of William Hartnell's era won't be available as part of the archive due to rights issues."
I'm intrigued to know why the BBC don't own the rights to the first 4 episodes? It does seem rather odd.
Can anyone here shed more light on this?

Is this some knee-jerk reaction because the BBC don't want another Jimmy Savile type scandal of an ex-employee being abused by the corporation? Is it that easy without a legal fight for a programme funded effectively by the taxpayer to be embargoed by a bully?Don't we as licence-payers have a say in this?I'm finding that my blood is slowly starting to boil...

It may be just myself, but the way I read the headline is that: the BBC have confirmed that episodes will be missing from the iPlayer drop not that missing episodes will be included.
I would love to be proved wrong, but I expect plenty of gaps and no new material presented.

There is absolutely nothing in the article that states that missing episodes have been found or included in this “trove.” It sounds more like they have brought all the existing episodes of DW, and affiliated shows, under one tent for streaming. Other than that, nothing to see here, folks.

It does seem rather odd. Can anyone here shed more light on this? You haven't heard? Stef Coburn, Anthony Coburn's younger son, is in charge of the Coburn estate. Coburn had written AUC. His wife was in charge when he died, then the oldest son, and now Stef. Many fans (pretty much all of them) are in bewilderment of his tweets on X - talking about nonsense, but he thinks the BBC owes the estate (read Stef) lots of money for Coburn's contributions to Doctor Who. Long story, but Coburn is basically unreasonable and is withholding viewing rights for iPlayer and maybe other streaming sites. Physical releases should be covered by previous agreements. Don't sell or lose your AUC DVDs!
