Look, I'm sorry for calling Ian a "fat bastard" and I'm sorry to those who I offended on this forum. Sure, Ian may have posted questionable and hateful comments on Facebook, but knowing now that's he now in his 70's makes sense. He's getting old and needs to be respected. I'll stop attacking him. After all, without him, we wouldn't have as much 60's Doctor Who that we have today.

Although it may sometimes seem difficult to believe we are ALL on the same side.

Yes he did. Thats why hes classed as disabled. He might be annoying, and loud, and upsets people but you have to remember, hes 70, thats how 70 yr old people tend to be, and being Northern too, hes going to be forthright and may rub people up the wrong way. Whilst Angel's post was certainly unnecessarily worded, I think stating that "that's how 70-year-old people tend to be" is a massive over-generalisation (as indeed, is being Northern). I know a large number of people in the 70+ age bracket and absolutely none of them are like Ian! Ian has been pretty much the same way all his life, so his age really has nothing to do with the very unpleasant way he speaks to people. That bit, I do have more of an issue with!

Almost 2000 years ago, according to a text found just to the south of Hadrian’s Wall, at Vindolanda, the Romans called the locals Brittunculi - nasty little Brits. Nowt has changed 👍

Was that a Davison line? Sounds Troughtonian.

Love him or hate him understandable or fustrating you've gotta love him for his way of passionately going after DWho in whatever avenue or method because without his passion we'd have no DWho or other missing material found and returned.
And with this interview fk if he rambles on not everyone's good at having the perfect interview environment but it's great to have such a conversation and his memories theories etc. That knowledge is irreplaceable and it was a pleasure for himself to share it with us.

I think your thinking of tomb, when Eric asks the doctor to share his special technique for understanding the place and he brutally puts him down with "by keeping my eyes open, and my mouth shut"

You know exactly where I was coming from there Richard, trying to calm things down a bit. Angel has apologised and that should be the end of it. As for his knowledge being second to none, if I dented your ego on that, I apologise.

You know exactly where I was coming from there Richard, trying to calm things down a bit. Which was the right thing to do. My issue was your assertion that your have to excuse Ian's rudeness because that's down to his age and effectively, that's how old people are. It doesn't have anything to do with that and it really shouldn't be used as any excuse for the way that he chooses to conduct himself. Goodness. Why would you try to attempt to make such a crass and offensive statement about this? It has nothing to do with ego. Ian chooses to ride roughshod over people, asserting that he's absolutely right about all the things he states and that he has a "flawless memory" about things, when actually, it's anything but. So often, the only source for any of the "facts" that Ian presents is Ian himself, and they are not backed up by any outside source, but because Ian believes they are true, anything that is contrary to that is wrong. You only have to see his recent interview for that, where he once again peddles the false story about Barry Letts being furious that most of The Daemons was wiped after he asked for it to be kept, when that's not what happened at all. And it's not just a one-off. Time and time again, he asserts things as fact that palpably are not true and when he's challenged about what he says, he's never able to provide any proof to back up his version of events, so he just resorts to being abusive. When Ian repeated tells stories that aren't quite as true as he would like you to believe, you have to start wondering how many other things he's stated in the past are not quite as clear-cut as he'd like to make them out to be.

I recall Barry Letts at a Convention many years ago saying that he’d asked for Darmons to be kept.

Dunno if anything audio or visual survives from DWAS Panopticons or Interfaces in the 80s but that could help. I attended virtually all of those.
