Not sure if this has been picked up by most, but a controversial interview with Ian Levine has gone out on YouTube. He says it like it is and makes clear why he hates the Gary Russell animations, Phil Morris, ‘socially aware’ casting and Jodie Whittaker, but has some interesting insights into uncovering the first missing episodes and why he things TP4 is still out there. It’s a 3 hour plus ramble with no editing. The interviewer is a bit green on Who and Levine corrects him often. Interesting once you acknowledge his views and abrupt manner.

Apologies I couldn’t find a direct link.

The interviewer is a bit green on Who Yet I note that the video’s description improbably boasts this interview was ‘over 20 years in planning’! One wonders just what was being planned in two decades if Ian had to keep correcting the interviewer’s layman errors… Anyway, thanks for posting this as Ian’s never shy in sharing his typically contentious, forthright opinions though it’s certainly hard (for me at least) to disagree with him over the often underwhelming missing story animations and Whittaker’s ‘socially aware’ casting!

This is hilarious. Everything about this. The utterly out of touch interviewer, none of the edits being respected, that Ian is utterly unaware of how he comes across, the word salad... Yet I can't stop watching 🤣
I recommend watching on 2x speed to get through it quickly.

Wow this is something.....actually finding quite hard to watch. Ian is a very polarising person......I even find myself thinking he's insane to then really agreeing with something he's said. I a very complicated character. I think he's someone that probably had some neurodivergence which does not excuse some of his out bursts but explains them. Even him effectively liquidating all his assets to buy the comic books. It is a shame the edits he asked for where left in....its not anything controversial, just quieting his dogs. But he asked door it to be edited it should of been.

Mmmmmmm...well...That was a long long watch. The sound for Ian was quite poor and I struggled at times to hear him. The interviewer had no control of the entire thing . Ian was Ian, once you get past that its ok, when you hear him repeat the same things over and over and go off on a rant. Some of his comments I totally agree with. Phil, Garys animations, wokism in the series, jodie Whitaker etc etc, and lots of other comments and maybe thats an age thing. The tenth Planet 4 section was interesting and actually backed up on my own feelings on that episode. It was an interesting watch, but should have been done so, so much better. People like Ian, who is a full on fan from day 1 and an expert to the show and its producers etc, has such valuable knowledge and we ought to hear it all before its too late.Even the bits we dont like hearing.

It would probably never happen....butbid be fascinated to see a competent interviewer take him on for a similar long haul podcast. Someone like mathew sweet that not only would be able to control the interview and ask the right questions but would also do his homework. Ian is very polarising and sometimes goes off on a rant but is a great source of knowledge but I don't think he came across well in this one or many other similar interviews

That's quite a dangerous interview - specifically where he talks about the owner of TP4. He doesn't give a name but he gives a helluva lot of info that would probably make this person easy to track down. And if this person has indeed said he'd rather burn it than return it, if people start hounding him over it, it isn't going to end well...

Richard Bignell has posted two images of a post regarding the MEs. He may repost it here but the gist is that Levine got it mixed up and the episodes, if they exist, wouldn’t necessarily be burned or disposed of. The post was by a friend of the ex-BBC guy.

Whoooao man way out of line did you watch the video? What is he saying that are lies exactly? From someone that's been peddling the same dead rumours over and over again your on very shakey ground to be throwing out stuff like that. You can disagree with some of his opinions on new who ect but you can't along out personal insults like that with out some substance......says a lot more about him than you.

[abusive comments deleted] What a ridiculous thing to say, and pretty unpleasant as well, considering some of a asinine posts you put up.... Ian has done more for Dr Who than most ever will. He can say what he likes.

[abusive comments deleted] Give your many mouths a rest, Jake. If you're not happy with yourself, then please don't project your unhappy thoughts onto others who didn't give you your unhappiness in the first place, making disparaging comments about their physique.

Yes he did. Thats why hes classed as disabled. He might be annoying, and loud, and upsets people but you have to remember, hes 70, thats how 70 yr old people tend to be, and being Northern too, hes going to be forthright and may rub people up the wrong way. But he is after all, the reason that a very large part of our DVD collections exist. He is responsible for lots of Studio outtakes, recording, cut scenes etc, that we all love seeing because he kept so much and his knowledge is second to none. Calling him fat bastard is downright rude and you need to apologise for that Angel, His knowledge is as relevant today as its always been.
