Network DVD released season one and two on DVD some time ago..don't know if it is still in their catalogue? They did not release season 3 (which included the cruise) which may have been either due to poor sales or most likely that some of the eps in season 3 are export copies with subtitles. but all complete otherwise as film recordings....the tapes have long gone.

There was a time that episodes from series 1 and 2 were believed to exist only with subtitles missingepisodes.proboards.com/thread/359/thursday , but this proved not to be the case. I'm quite hopeful about series 3, too, but will it ever come out?

I hadn't realised that it's only two episodes of series 3 that (possibly) have subtitles: Series 3 26.10.1967 When in Malaga The only existing copies have burnt-in subtitles. 16.11.1967 Springtime for Hunter The only existing copies have burnt-in subtitles. The second title is a nod to Springtime for Hitler, surely? Oh...and could someone move this thread to Missing Episodes (General)?

I remember Kathleen Harrison as 'Mrs Thursday' but I can't remember any of the programme content if that makes sense? I really remember it only through Alf Garnett and his Wife arguing about it, I think it was the 'Till Death Us Do Part' episode about Mary Whitehouse (?)

Here's Kathleen Harrison's tie-in single. (With a bit of help from her friends). www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjbrLsFW79QA couple of comments stand out: "This is a photograph of my husband, Ron Blanchard, who sadly died last year, with Kathleen Harrison. He was the Senior Floor Manager on the ATV production of "Mrs. Thursday". They all went on location in 1967 on the Union Castle Lines ship,Reina Del Mar, along with Hugh Manning who played her butler. They filmed in Casablanca and Madeira and on the ship itself of course. Listening to theme tune and song brings back many happy memories. I have a lot of slides which Ron took on the trip and several letters written from Kathleen to him and myself. She was a true star both on television and radio." And: "My grandad wrote this music, Wilf Edwards. Lovely to hear this as never had a recording of it and he died in 1979. Can't stop listening to it now!" Given that the last episode was called We Bid You All Goodbye, it sounds as though the series was wound up properly.

Hmm. The things you can learn from credits. The Kenny Powell Trio, who are in one episode of Mrs.T., also appeared in three Avengers.
Frankie Vaughan's in a Thursday, too.

16.11.1967 Springtime for Hunter The only existing copies have burnt-in subtitles. The second title is a nod to Springtime for Hitler, surely? I wonder. The episode was broadcast 16 November 1967. The film was released in USA November 22 1967. Presumably it didn't reach UK until several months after that. Would the show's writers even have known about the film and the song at the time? Would the audience recognise the reference, if it was deliberate?

I think you're right, though I was allowing a bit for pre-publicity, it has to be an amusing coincidence. ...and any crossover with Callan, through 'Hunter' is only in my own mind...though it would have been fun if there'd been a spy-themed fourth series of Mrs. Thursday called 'The Woman Who Was Thursday' (after Chesterton's 'The Man Who Was Thursday'! Stranger things have happened-remember when the Father Dear Father family met Callan? (Pleased to see that Network still have the first two series of MT listed).

I seem to recall Kathleen Harrison was quite loud in it, but bless her, TV was still a relatively new medium for all these old-time actors who had to put bread on the table by making themselves heard in dodgy old provincial theatres which had no PA equipment at the time..
ATV would have been quite happy to carry on but I think Kathleen herself even blocked any repeats of it because as a once jobbing actress she had been completely overwhelmed by the public's affection for her character and the resulting TV stardom..
If Network ever release series 3 what a nice extra Ron Blanchard's slides would make eh?

I thought Mrs Thursday was meant to be a loud cleaning lady as a character. At least when I was watching on original transmission.

I don't think she ever raised her voice in anything she did, though that didn't stop her playing determined and reolute characters. I love the Huggett films. There are examples of Mrs.Thursday online. Little chance of the last series of MT being released, I think.

I picked up three sets of Mrs.Thursday yesterday, thinking "three?". Turned out there were two sets of series 2... The second episode of that series, 'Over the Counter', is about working conditions in retailing. Interesting from a present-day perspective.
"Bring in self-service! And a pram-park...somewhere for your missus to park the kids". "Next you'll be wanting an amusement-arcade, swings, roundabouts...and a bowling-alley!"
How prescient !
